Having some trouble installing an old GTX285.   The 285 card is working, but weirdly it shows up as a 660ti in device manager.   The history is I've had crashing issues with my 660ti and am testing the system with an old gtx285 card.  Also none of the geforce driver packages I've tried will detect the 285 card (2015-2016 341.74 341.95 342.01) .   I'm going off the driver windows 10 installs.   I've used DDU and windows installs drivers and the gtx285 still shows up as the 660ti.

    Didn't work same error as before.    The driver install runs and halts with the message "NVIDIA Installer cannot Continue.  This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware"

    Have you tried to install the latest driver... http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/127265/en-us

    It might work since the card is being detected as a 660 ti.

    The drivers installed but card in device manager still says 660ti.    It did install the nvidia taskbar software and geforce experience.   So it's nice to have that.   The driver i was running that win10 update downloaded was close to these already.

    old driver 23.21.13.8813
    just installed 23.21.13.8843

    Do this driver..Seems to be the latest NVIDIA lists for Win10 64-bit and a GTX 285.

    * Corsair Obsidian 450D Mid-Tower - Airflow Edition * ASUS ROG Maximus X Hero (Wi-Fi AC) * Intel i7-8700K @ 5.0 GHz * 16GB G.SKILL Trident Z 4133MHz * Sabrent Rocket 1TB M.2 SSD * WD Black 500 GB HDD * Seasonic M12 II 750W * Corsair H115i Elite Capellix 280mm * EVGA GTX 760 SC * Win7 Home/Win10 Home *

    I've tried 342.01 already.   Also a couple more of the older drivers from the geforce site.  I entered 285 and searched for drivers.   Tried the newest one listed 342.01, the oldest one listed 341.74, and one in the middle 341.95.   These 3 drivers stop install saying they don't detect any hardware.

    The 285 is running OK.   Desktop stuff, video, and a few simple games all seem to run.   No crashes or anything.    I'm finding it odd the card is labeled a 660ti in device manager.     I'm not keeping the 285 installed.   I guess  it's not going to matter.    I'm thinking a 1050 or a 3g 1060 would be good to replace the 660ti that is failing.

    The .inf file for the driver must have an error in it. The only way to make the device manager read as gtx 285 is be modding the .inf file.

    I don't know anything about modding .inf files.   Not sure it's worth doing as I plan on getting a new card.   I would of thought when i ran DDU it would of cleared the history of me having a 660ti.   I guess it's some weird legacy hardware / windows 10 stuff.

    Thanks Sajin and bob16314 for the replies.
