I am getting my 980ftw sent back from rma due to somekind of liquid spotting on the PCB. It works fine for normal PC useage, i just can't game with it.

Tomorrow I'm going to look at a used 980ti SC+ that is still in good working condition and never RMA'd with a warranty still good until July 2018(current owner gave me the serial number so I could call and verify).

Can I set my PC up to use the ftw for everyday use and the ti for gaming only if I have a monitor connected to each?

The simple answer would be yes. However with the TI in your system, it makes zero sense to even bother running the 980 as it really serves no purpose and would only make things more complicated then they need to be You would probably be better off selling the 980 FTW and trying to pickup another 980 TI, or pocketing the $$$.

Non-sli? Yeah, you'd have to have a monitor hooked up to the second card if you wanted to game using it as the render GPU, and that monitor would need to be set as the one to use in the in-game settings (and AFAIK many games don't give that option, it defaults to the primary monitor - which you'd have to set up in Windows).

Personally, I'd sell the 980 and just use the 980 Ti. Overall power usage will be higher with both cards installed, overall case airflow may be reduced leading to a bit higher CPU and GPU temps - to name a few downsides.

That partial liquid spotting is likely just dielectric grease leaking from the thermal pads covering the VRAM and power sections. If that is what is stopping you from gaming then don't worry about it as it is normal.

If, however, the GPU doesn't work for whatever reason after RMAing it, you should contact customer support and have them fix it - https://www.evga.com/about/contactus/ Unless you didn't give us all the information and it was user caused water damage?

I know for sure 1 game does allow selecting, Final Fantasy XIV. The only other game I play is Destiny 2 and I don't recall of it does or not.

Airflow I'm not overly concerned about since I have dezcent airflow and my cpu is liquid cooled.

Since it seems to be doable, I'll give it a shot once I have them. FTW is supposed to be ne on its way back and I have to go pick up the ti if the wife lets me(marriage sucks sometimes).

I'd mark yours as helpful if I could from the mobile app, don't see an option to do so.

    +1
This leakage is a known issue and affects the new 10xx series cards as well.
You can change the pads your self or have EVGA do it for you.
There is most likely nothing wrong with the GPU itself.

I stated they are sending it back due to the liquid spotting

I have another post with more detailed info on what transpired in the RMA, but using the app I see no way to link it in here.

That must have come from your AIO water cooler. If that water cooler is under warranty I'd contact them for a replacement AIO and also a replacement GPU and show them that EVGA denied repair due to water damage.

Odd thing is there are no signs in my case of anything leaking. Nothing else has spots on it similar to those. The only other tjing I can think of is I had a bad can of air. I just threw it away the other day because when i blew my ps4 off the top of the console got a slight mist on it
