So I'm trying to figure out my options here. My build with ftw3 x58 mobo and gskill ram has been having issues and I haven't quite figured out if it's the mobo slots, ram, or both. Started with memory_management bsod and then got audio beeps and lags when working with software that requires heavy ram usage.

Seems like a couple of the slots won't boot with single stick but everything boots when all sticks are in. Memtest has shown one stick of memory with errors thus far. And like 30 errors when all sticks are in. Kind of seems like both my ram and slots are failing on me at the same time...

Anyways, since I can't find a new ftw3 anywhere I'm wondering what my options are. Has anyone upgraded evga motherboards successfully without wiping windows?

can you test another brand of ram? that will tell you is it's the board, or even the cpu since the mem controller is in the cpu. as for installing the HDD drive on another board it may work but you will generally have performance issues, also windows will most likely de-activate when you do.

Sounds like you have a single stick of ram that needs to be replaced. Does the bios/windows detect all your ram when all of it is installed? If yes, I doubt your dimm slots are faulty.

You can sysprep windows before moving to another motherboard to avoid driver conflicts. Sysprep won't delete your programs. The sysprep process is exactly the same for windows 10.

You should be OK as long as you use the same family of chipsets, Intel with Intel AMD with AMD.

Sysprep works too, used it a lot when I worked at a CTEC.

On the X58 motherboard if you have a problem with memory not working check for bent CPU pins.
