I remember that I updated to Windows 10 Creators and that the problems start appearing.

I right click on my games I had issues with -> compatibility -> Disable FullScreen Optimization.

And BOOOOM, everything is running fine :D Games launching with no issue in few seconds IN FULLSCREEN!

Great Find EmireJ, I'm sure others will benefit from your solution / settings tweak

GUYS! Sorry for the caps lock, but it seems I'VE FOUND WHERE THE PROBLEM WAS COMING FROM :D

It wasn't from the components :-)

Thanks! Hope it can helps.

My PC is 100% fine, it's just the Windows 10 Falls Creators which have issues with some games...

I'm having the same issue as you. The "Disable fullscreen optimization" trick doesn't seem to work for me.
I've had the 1080ti since late may and it has only started happening to me in the last 48hrs. I've gamed for 400+hrs since then without issues...

1080ti, I was on 385 drivers but recently updated to nvidia 388.81, same issue. Swapping to another card (1070) I don't have this problem, I don't think it's my other hardware like PSU.

Really annoying. I don't think it's a hardware / GPU issue, most likley software/firmware/driver

It happens whenever I launch a game now, whereas it used to only happen every 2-3 hrs (monitors just go black)

More info:
GPU BIOS: 86.02.39.00.90
Nvidia driver: 388.31 (and 385.xx)
Win10 version 1709 (build 16299.64)

Update 1: Disabling G-sync seems to have fixed the issue for now
Update 2: did not solve it. Going back to a 1070 I'm not having any issues, 100% something wrong with 1080ti. Time to RMA?
Update 3: RMA'd the card, EVGA sent me a replacement and it is working well. :)

I don't think it's your card. Can you still put your 1080 Ti to 385 drivers and try?

I really think it's Windows 10 update which is faulty

I'm thinking its something else too, this seems to only happen in certain games (PUBG black screen immediately) but Battlefront is fine.

I'm currently on 385.69, same issue. Which is weird because it was working for 200+ hrs in pubg previously

Are you using a displayport cable? If yes, is it vesa certified?

Yes, and yes. I tried using another display port cable and no luck. Using the same cables on the 1070 is working fine.

I've also confirmed it isn't my power supply (1070 is ok, tried using another PSU, same results)

I'm still 100% sure it's not your card but the Windows 10 Fall Update

Sorry, I didn't specify in my initial post but my screen wasn't just black. It was losing the displays completely (no display found on monitor) and the fans would power up to max until I shut the PC completely off (restart didn't reset the fans).
This seems like a different issue to me. I should've been more clear, or made a new thread as Sajin suggested.

I had been on the creators update since mid Oct (17th?) and only had these issues within 48hrs on Nov 21/22. I probably played 100+ hrs with no issues on the Win10 update before that.

I sent the card in for RMA as I have tested another 1080ti and 1070 and eliminated PSU/Motherboard as the potential culprit.
