Just a quicky poll.  When you overclock, do you disable C states in the bios and go with a static overclock?  Just curious...

Thanks

I keep C-states, C1E and EIST enabled in order to reduce power consumption and processor wear and tear (electromigration)..Although those things can cause a BSOD when the CPU transitions from a low/no load state to full power when overclocked, I never had that problem..Can't quite see running my CPU at full tilt all the time when it's not really needed, such as for web browsing and watching movies.

I just have never really ran into a problem with processor wear. I guess it could be a problem sometime in the future but I really haven't ran into it. Of course I don't overclock like a madman and just go for a modest stable overclock. Even if I did overclock to the point that the system was to become unstable if I pushed it further I think it would take longer then I normally wait to upgrade for it to be a problem and normally even at that point if you go back to stock voltage the system would be stable again.

What you should also probably be able to do, and what I do, is keep all the processor power saving features enabled in the BIOS, then go into Windows Control Panel -> Power Options and set the Preferred plan to High performance real quick like instead of Balanced (recommended) or Power saver to keep the CPU always running at your overclock frequency and voltage when you want it to..Then when you do want Windows to dynamically adjust/lower the CPU frequency/voltage, just switch the Power plan again real quick like instead of doing it in the BIOS..Whatever works for ya.

I keep the power saving stuff enabled. It can be beneficial to the OC to turn them off if you are going for max speed benchmark overclocks but for day to day use leave em on.

+1, haven't had any issues either. Don't see a need to keep it overclocked 24/7.

I have gotten lazy and I just use Asus presets now with power set to "Normal" and when I'm feeling crazy I crank it to performance mode.
