Just got an EVGA 1080 TI FTW3 and currently running 5760x1080 with 3 display surround very well.  Wondering what display I could get to replace the three display setup but still maintain a wide view.  Any recommendations ?

Also curious as to how games are displayed on a single wide monitor like I seek when the game does not support the native resolution.

Most would just stretch out the game. The other option would be to letterbox the screen so you would have a black area on each side beyond what the aspect ratio would be for the resolution.

I have not kept up with the technology but that one has AMD FreeSync. It my understanding Nvida is Gsync and the the two are not compatible.  So if thats the case you will still be able to use that display but will not be able to take advantage of the SYNC feature ?

I am now at the point where Im am going to purchase a single display to replace my 3 display setup. As I stated prior I like the wide view so I think I need to be looking at an UltraWide. Right now my sights are on the DELL Alienware AW3418DW34 G-Sync, which is 1440 and 120hz ( I think 100hz Native).  A bit pricey though at $1299.

I noticed that are several UltraWide 1080 monitors at 144hz and G-Sync. They typically fall in $800 range. Would I notice a $500 difference if I went with 1440 UW over 1080 UW ?  I know that is subjective so lets just say if one saw the two side by side, same game, would they instantly be able to distinguish which one cost $500 more by image alone ?

Yes, 1080 vs 1440 is significant.  I just bought the AW3418DW and replaced my center 1440p surround screen with it since it uses a similar .233 dot pitch as my existing triple setup.  Now I run the center UW monitor in games and use 120Hz OC with "normal" refresh and g-sync.  I get 113 fps in Doom with everything at max and it is very nice.  Been too lazy to check actual fps with other games, but wolfenstein and BF is very smooth.  The Dell is much better than my triple surround monitors due to higher framerates while still giving a good wide aspect ratio.  The Dell is a very nice monitor at the moment for UW gaming, but if you do graphics, drafting, or video, I'd keep a good flat screen around.  Screen uniformity and color temp varies.  It gets warmer on the right side.  Also, curved screeen not good for drafting.  I am tempted to trying a replacement, but others have experienced the same issue.  Don't want to gamble since very minimal BLB in lower corners and no dead/stuck pixels.

As for price, BB price matches many and Dell website.  I pricematched Dell on initial purchase, then had BB re-adjust again when it went on sale for $999 the past week.  Still within my return period if the color temp variance gets to me, but right now, it's a keeper.  Others have complained about the warmer right side.  If you're picky or use full screen windows all the time, it may annoy you.  I keep my windows to half screen widths so I don't notice it as much.  BB has a good return policy and I have 45 days to return.  I would suggest BB or Amazon and try it out if you're picky, then you have options to return.  I just got a Dell U3417W for work due to special pricing and it's much better for office work, but curved screen still harder for drafting purposes.  I still kept my flat screens at work, too.

Seems like the UW market is the way to go. Ive heard that gaming and general computing on them is awesome. Im holding out for the Asus PG35VQ. Eventually Id like to run three of those in surround. Has anyone heard or seen anything about pricing and release date?
