Hi all,
I'm having some issues and I'm nearly at my wits' end. I have a new build using a Z270 Stinger. I had this built by a friend of mine who got it all set up, configured, and loaded Windows. He shipped it to me, but when I got it, it wouldn't post. Fans and LEDs all fire up, but no video signal and no beeps. We troubleshot it by removing all non-necessary items for POST, leaving only 1 stick of RAM, the CPU + cooler, and power, and am getting the same result. Lights and fans, but nothing else.
Based on the condition of the box, we theorized that it must have suffered a fall, as one of the corners was pretty banged up. Although it was packed well, we decided to replace the motherboard, RAM, and CPU to be on the safe side.
I reassembled just basic POST testing configuration of board, ram, and CPU, and am getting the exact same thing-- fans, LEDs, and no video or POST. I want to try to eliminate the possibility that I've got two bad motherboards in a row, but I've pretty much exhausted the extent of my troubleshooting knowledge. One of the things I noticed is that I don't see a beep speaker on the board anywhere, nor is there a header connection for a case speaker, so my first question is does the board have one integrated? One of my troubleshooting steps was to remove the ram to see if it gave me the tell-tale "no ram installed" beep code, but nada. This leads me to believe the board does not have an integrated speaker, which I'd be happy to be corrected on.
Other steps I've tried include using different ram, ensuring that single sticks are placed and firmly seated in slot 2, ensuring all power and other wire connections are firmly seated, and resetting CMOS.
It's possible that the motherboard may not be the problem, but I figured this was a good starting point, and any advice, suggestions or tips anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
