Hey Guys,

Getting this error with a BSOD while gaming: CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT.

Anybody facing/faced similar issue? I have OCed my 6700k to 4.7GHz with 1.290V and adaptive mode which peaks upto 1.325V on load.

And OCed the GTX 1080 FTW2 by 100 MHz on the core and 400MHz on the memory.

Need you guys' help here.

Thanks.

Running stock clocks on all hardware should get rid of the bsod.

A little more CPU Vcore is almost certainly needed at that frequency and will likely fix it..Increase the CPU voltage/offset or the CPU Loadline Calibration Control.

I see that others running an i7-6700K at/around 4.7GHz need in the neighborhood of 1.4v under load, but how much Vcore needed will depend on the quality of your particular CPU..You should review some overclocking guides specific to your MSI Z270 M7 and i7-6700K and make sure the BIOS is up to date..MSI has a forum too.

Watch the CPU core's temperatures, more Vcore = higher core temps..I believe the TjMax for those things is 100C, but you'd need to search it, or Real Temp should tell you in the Settings..Stay 10C below TjMax at all times, the cooler the better.

If you can pass Intel Burn Test or the Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool, your overclock should be good to go.

Thanks buddy. Will try that. The CPU was stable under aida64 so thought I got a stable OC.
And yeah the BIOS is the latest one.
Now regarding temps, they spiked to max 89C during aida64. But while gaming the temps are nice and cool in low to high 60s.

Okay looks like the CPU needed a little more juice. Turned the multiplier down to x46 at 1.310V (on load: 1.345V)and played wildlands for some time. All went good with no BSOD.

    Will try for x47 now.

You're welcome..You'll just have to play with it to find the frequency-to-voltage sweet spot, but Vcore is king..As long as it's game/benchmark stable and core temps are good is all I'd really care about, myself.
