So I moved to a laptop for my main business computer, and that has created a fun new challenge for me. What do we do now, short of getting a docking station, that will allow for splitting the screens so I can run two monitors from the HDMI out on the laptop?

Not "Duplicate" like many do with video/TV screens (Like say in a bank lobby), I mean to work different documents on each monitor.

I know that in the past a dongle would "Fib" to the computer into thinking it had a higher resolution between the monitors. Is that still the case? I was looking at this as a possible solution... https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-HDMI-Splitter-Out-Aluminum/dp/B071QXJM8W?th=1

Thanks!

Looks like that should do the job.

Nope, that is an HDMI splitter, sends the same signal to both monitors, duplicating. Not what you wanted.

If the laptop only has 1 HDMI output you need to add one via a USB to HDMI adapter. If the laptop has USB-C with alt mode then a simple adapter will work, if not you would need to get a DisplayLink device like so: https://www.amazon.com/Nekteck-Definition-3840x2160-External-Multi-Monitor/dp/B06WWFF1MC/

Post you laptop and monitor specs/model #'s and I can tell you for sure.

somethiung001. You are correct! I tried the item mentioned above. Only duplicated. I ordered a docking station and it is working flawlessly.

    BR for you!
