One of my business monitors are taking about five minutes to come on (Stop flashing and only showing half a screen at first) so I decided to take two of my "Surround" monitors and make them the new business monitors and try my hand at this new 144hz 2560x1440 32" QLED and see how it does. With the idea of late next year or early 2019 of getting one of the 4k's that are going to finally meet my spec desires.

Newegg has it on sale right now for $549 included the additional $100 off with code EMCBRBR66, ends 10/16.

OLED has insane, nearly perfect image quality for both gaming & movies.

In the upcoming years we will also get HDMI 2.1 with the adaptive sync (Game Mode VRR, stands for variable refresh rate).

Looks like a nice deal for that size of monitor Afterburner. The specs looks good, I would like it better if it had G-sync, but you can't have everything. Let us know how you like it.

Totally agree. I have been debating for close to a year now on what to get. But for some reason the "Monitor" world is not advancing as fast as the 4k TV world has been (Sales driven I am certain). So what the heck. 2560x1440 is supported in any game I will play and I absolutely love anything over 100hz for how I enjoy gaming.

As such me reasoning is the slightly larger SAMSUNG C32HG70 screen will perform well enough in 2560x1440 to satisfy me until the next round of new monitors makes it to the market. At least that is the hope...

Nice one. I just bought a Samsung 55", 4K, curved, HDR TV last week (and saved $600).

Well, pretty happy. No dead pixels and exactly what I hoped for. Debating now on getting another two and go back to surround...

Also decided it was time to get a new headphones. Pretty happy with this set as well! My first type with open backs, definitely a better sound. Instead of it being like the sound is coming from my head, it is more like it is coming to my head. I think that is particlaly because of the pads going around my ears instead of pressing on my ears and the open back allowing for the speaker pressure (Air) to go both ways vs. pressing on the eardrums. Also can hear sounds i could not with my Sennheiser's, that is for sure. Music sounds more active, or alive. Hard to explain, hope that helps...

    Quick update...

Quite pleased with the monitor. Yesterday I went back and forth between the old monitors and this new one the difference is stunning.

This QLED provides a clearer and far more accurate picture than any other monitor I have owned. And to be frank... I am even thinking that 4k is not going to be in the near future for me because this monitor is doing what I was looking for the 4k to do.

The monitor was already overwhelming at first and needed to be tamed (Brightness was over the top). But once I got it dialed in I am very pleased.

Oh, and going back to 1440 from 1080 is almost like gaining another half of a screen. I LOVE how much more I can have on the screen for any activity...

Hi ya AB, I went over your posts here a couple times, I see you are using this for gaming, plus for work I guess.
What GPU are you using? I see this monitor has freesync, AMDs tech.
Would this work well with Nvidia GPUs, the Gsync seem to be so much more most of the time?
    I am looking into 144mhz , 1440 monitors, I have a GTX1080Ti, a 1080 or can go 980Ti SLI .
Sold off all my AMD GPUs a while back when the prices went sky high.
Glad it is working out for you, sure looks like a sweet monitor.

I kind of have to agree I will go 4K but it's going to be when the specs really become what I want in a 4K and maybe a generation later. Overall the specs you have are pretty amazing on this monitor and the Freesync shouldn't be that much of an issue as long as you are using a good video card.

I'm wondering what the next monitor to get will be for me, but I want to keep my 4k resolution, and if I want G-Sync... well that leaves two options out there atm.
I'm thinking on the 4k 144hz QLED HDR g-sync, does everything and then some monitors that were pushed back to 2018 release... but I doubt they'll be anywhere near affordable, so been looking for other options.

    Great question Bill,

I am not seeing any ill effects with using my 1080Ti with this monitor. Partially because of the specs I try and stay close to. Fast response time, DP and 144hz. Frankly I still see freesynce and Gsync as band-aids for under-performing components.

This monitor is smooth, fast, clear and frankly, spectacular accuracy. I just cranked out some hours with the new Assassins Creed with the system detecting highest settings for most of the options on its own and not a blemish to be found in game.

    Flawless.

Yep. Even these monitors had a long tail on release. But when you see so few 4k's with these specs even in the "Coming soon" arena, I simply got tired of waiting and felt this 2K monitor had all the specs i have been waiting for but 4K and for such a good price I had to try. Glad I did.

    Well this is interesting..

Windows wanted to update my main gaming unit (Windows 10) the last few days and I finally let it this morning. Result...

Video output flipping on my screen. In other words... Like one can see in a video recording of the refresh rate where the monitor screen is rotating vertically.

What I tried to do to fix it...
    • Shut down-Start
    • Reboot
    • Updated to latest WHQL driver.
    • Researched online. Seems I am alone with this one.
    • Tried reducing the native refresh rate of 144Hz to 120Hz. Bingo. Screen is now back to normal viewing capacity.
I went back to 144Hz and can duplicate the issue. Sigh... I do not think there is enough of a difference between the two refresh rates to make any effort to fix this at the moment. But I am sure I will dig in at some point to figure this out.

    Any ideas?

EDIT... I just rolled my system back to the prior Windows version and everything went back to normal.

I did not know it initially... But a few of the programs I run would no longer run. One being BOINC Manager. It kept telling me I am not authorized. That made me decide to roll back...

144Hz and all the programs I originally found issues with are fully functional and normal now!

Highly disagree. Every OLED panel I've had has gotten burn-in, and the pink-green color shifting at angles annoys the hell out of me. Both LG and Samsung solutions are susceptible to at least one of these issues, or both. While OLED usually has the best black levels and vibrancy, it means nothing to me if I have burn in. I'll take a quality calibrated IPS LCD display over OLED every time until those two glaring issues are fixed. It's a technology that is still within its growing stages yet marketers tell you it's the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I purchased one of these monitors when it was on sale as you did. I love it! The monitor is everything I was looking for with high refresh rate and a resolutions that's not too demanding.
