Ah I forgot about the GPU-Z, thank you.
It does show 528 GB / Sec Memory Bandwidth, but not 12 GHz effective Video Memory speeds, only 1501 MHz.
How did you get 550 GB / Sec? I'm curious now about that, got nothing running in the background while testing GPU-Z.
Do you have your graphics card overclocked to get 550 GB / Sec? That's a little strange if not.
However, Nvidia's system page is a little bit off, because as mentioned, most of the 1080 Ti graphics cards are for 11 GHz Video Memory speeds, with 484 GB / Sec Memory Bandwidth, they weren't designed for this new graphics card since the graphics drivers were for the original 10 series.
I do believe that EVGA is supposed to update these graphics drivers, or Nvidia will.. as something tells me that the GTX 1080 Ti's will get a spec change in time, which will make the graphics drivers change as well. I could be wrong.. Nvidia might not update the original cards or EVGA, but EVGA should update / modify these graphics drivers to better support the featured specs.
Also, GPU-Z doesn't utilize the graphics card, it reads the graphics card specs on the chipset of the graphics card, it is the Nvidia graphics drivers that utilize the graphics card specs.
What I mean is, what if the specs shown in the Nvidia Control Panel's - System Information, with the latest graphics drivers, are the specs that are actually being used instead.
I think EVGA might have modified those old graphics drivers on the CD to utilize the specs. Here's something I left out, when I installed those old graphics drivers, my PC was sometimes haulting after installation, it would take time to come out of monitor sleep mode by moving the mouse or pressing a key, it would also take time to do things, while not showing the mouse cursor.
It would do this until I restarted the PC, right after installing the old graphics drivers from the cd that came with the graphics card.
After this was done, the correct specs would show, but what was with all the haulting and slow behavior? I do believe the graphics drivers were trying to utilize the 12 GHz Video Memory speeds with the 528 GB / Sec Memory Bandwidth.
After installing the old graphics drivers on the cd that came with the graphics card, I restarted the PC and it worked fine without any haulting, I think the old graphics drivers were trying to utilize the correct graphics card specs vs the new graphics driver settings. A restart fixed it while using the old graphics drivers.
We will have to wait for a graphics driver update to show the correct specs, and to be sure that they really do utilize the correct graphics card specs.
I think because this graphics card was updated with those specs, that the graphics drivers too will follow in time, but maybe not.
And if not, well that would worry me a little. I'm happy with the graphics card the way it is, but not as much as what it should be without the proper specs.
Also one other thing, is there a way to show the 12 GHz Video Memory speeds? GPU-Z was only showing the 1501 "supposed to be 1502 MHz" for the white edition, based upon the site link when I clicked on a link inside GPU-Z.
Would rather see the 12 Ghz, not the 1501 Mhz Video Memory speed, any app that can read the graphics card's specs like GPU-Z to do so?
Btw here's something interesting.
EVGA's graphics card specs on their site under the news section, shows. -
Speed: 0.17 ns
They changed it to "notify me" and their spec sheet page is down on both the white and black edition of this graphics card.
However.. if you go to the graphics card itself under the product list, it shows that you can click on the spec sheet there and it works.
newegg.com shows these specs. -
Scroll down to the bottom of the page when you find it, I guess we can't send links here.
Speed: 0.18 ns
Kind of odd how both websites show something different for the "Memory speed" on the graphics card.
