As the title says, my CLC 280 keeps losing it's connection to my system. I can hear the Windows sound notification, like a device being unplugged, and the Flow Control software will stop reporting any information. I'm assuming this is a hardware issue, because the software simply not working correctly would not cause my system to behave as if a cable has been unplugged. I've double check all my connections, and everything is fine. It's connected to a Gigabyte Z370 Gaming 7. I have no issues with anything else, just my CLC 280.

In your bios make sure the CPU fan is set to PWN or constant 100%.

Had does this affect operation? Will Flow Control still vary pump/fan speed on it's own? I'm having other issues with it too. Flow Control refuses to report fan speed, just a blank field. I've tried multiple different headers. It also refuses to maintain manual fan settings. When I disable the auto fan control to disable the curves, and manually move the fan or pump speed slider, it's always a short while before Flow Control simply moves them to wherever it wants.

As for the system fan settings, I think that's part of my issue with it losing it's USB connection. When I uninstalled the Gigabyte Flow Control software, which is just the desktop version of what I have in the BIOS, the disconnection issues decreased. Not completely, but it's not constantly losing it's connection now. But still drops randomly. I have tried switching to the other USB 2.0 header, same problem. Though when I switch those headers my USB 2.0 connections at the front of my case, using the other header, never have any problems.

I have an Asus Z270E, and I connected the fan pin to the AiO header, in the Bios I've enebled to monitor (display) the fan speed but the speed control.
If you set the motherboard to control your fans speed, then Flow control won't be able to control them through the Usb connection.
I hope this can help even if my motherboard is different.

Try to uninstall the Gigabyte Control Software and see if helps.

If evga clc works like Corsair hydro coolers work, you should be able to set a profile and remove the USB cable.  I never installed the usb cable on mine.
