Hi,
I own a 1080ti FTW3 since some time now. From time to time, when I start a game like Battlefield 1 or Quake Champions I get a black screen and my display says "out of range". Also I'm having some weird input lag of several seconds in The Division, also occasional not all the time.
Unfortunately I can't find the reason for it, my system had no changes in the past and it feels it's getting worse.

Any idea why my display says "out of range"? It's a Asus PG278Q 144Hz monitor. (Starting BF1 -> Going to Multiplayer -> Loading map -> Joining -> Out of Range)

Windows 10 Prof, latest drivers, updates, etc. Precision XOC is running in Default.

Thanks for your help

Does the same thing happen when testing the other displayport outputs on the card? Does the issue happen when running a lower resolution & refresh rate?

Your monitor had a "Known Issue" about this...and supposedly nvidia addressed it years ago.  Searching online however shows that the problem tends to persist but for different reasons.

What happens if you Alt TAB in and out of the game?

Anyway what  I saw...
Did you DDU your drivers? Option 2  almost all forums said to do this with Safe Mode
Old cables weren't up to spec ... the cable that came with the monitor apparently was no good
Had to disable Gsync or tweak settings in game INI
The old problem supposedly fixed by nvidia

I own a early model PG278Q. Mine was produced in July of 2014. Never had a problem with the included cable. G-Sync has been working fine as of late too.

Sorry, for the late answer, it only happens from time to time. I've been playing Middle-earth: Shadow of War for 22 hours and just now it started to happen after launching the game.
At least this game can be Alt-Tabbed and Alt+Entered so I could play around with settings. After switching V-Sync on/off ingame didn't help.
I could fix the problem with disabling G-Sync in the nvidia settings, after enabling again the out of range-message comes back.

It is kind of strange that it started 2,5 years after buying the monitor (12/2014). I accept _Gir_s answer, there are some helpful links and I can exclude the graphics card now.

Do any older graphics drivers make the issue go away? If no, you could have a faulty g-sync module inside your PG278Q.
