This is a very interesting idea. If you have an M-2 B slot SSD you can convert it into a USB stick. Of particular emphasis here is that it has to be a B-key SSD. M-Key drives will NOT work at all.

It's interesting but would depend on the price as to if it's worth it. Part of the problem would be if it's worth it compared to buying a quality USB drive.

I have another brand external enclusure for a m.2 sata drive. Its USB3.0, so is perfect for a sata SSD Drive.
I use it at work with a bootable version of linux and is very fast.

i imagine it would be alot faster, would be great for doing live linux distros or even full install in something like a NAS server, but i would think if you have USB 3.1 ports you probably have a M.2 slot. never the less would still be useful.

I have a variety of PCIe and SATA enclosures for both proprietary and conventional SSD's. Apple has so many standards and often customers need to upgrade to larger drives. I have a variety of them from MacSales.com and Amazon.
