welp today marks the day in which merged folding is no longer more profitable than running Nicehash. with recent rates for both FLDC and CURE falling to lows not seen since May this year but difficulty increasing over 6x since then.

Then will we see Miners drop out of Folding?
Is this the start of the end for Team Curecoin?
I have noticed some of the High End Top Hitters are no longer Folding.

well as of yesterday we have actually had three new people enter the top 10 folders for Curecoin and i only see one person in the top 100 stop folding completely. though that said Curecoin has plateaued these last 5 weeks. but who's to say Curecoin will not start to slide once more people start to realize the loss in profits.

Well if this does really happen it will only Prove that Curecoin was really only in for Profit and not the Cure.
But only time will tell at this point in time.

Yes, I noticed it as well.  3 new people, 1 at 30 million ppd, 1 at 20 million and I can't locate the other atm.  We've had difficulty increase by almost 200 million ppd.  Folding for most people on team curecoin is about the profit, so odds are once people realize how little they are making, we will probably see numbers drop.  Since the coins are at massive lows, it will just scare people away.  Vorsholk and company got what they wanted, people are interested in the coins, but it didn't drive up the price of the coin like they were expecting it to.  Instead FLDC has dropped like a rock and Cure has almost fallen to 4000 satoshi, a level it hasn't been since May 2017.

If Vorsholk would turn off his farm, it wouldn't be so bad.  The fact he still has it running....

yea, the only slight saving grace here is that BTC has gone up to ~$5,300 making the less amount we earn as valuable as when we earned more. but that would only be true if CURE/FLDC remained level in price, which they haven't.

Yes makes me wonder what's going to happen if BTC corrects back to $4000.  Do I sell what I have now and keep it as BTC in hopes that BTC will fly even higher, or do I hold and hope that FLDC and CURE will gain traction...haha.  This can't be because of the fork, as the fork happened on the 1st, so what is pushing BTC to such insane levels.

i do not know what is forcing it up right now but i would hold my alt now and sell once btc stabilizes some and people start reinvesting into alt coins making them go up.

There are 10 new members in the top 20... I love folding, but I have bills to pay, and these new guys are adding more research than I think Stanford cares to deal with.

Sadly I agree.  It has dropped a lot in relation to bitcoin and the only reason it's stayed stable is because bitcoin is so absurdly high right now.  FLDC is at an alltime low also.  These miners have made it very difficult to make a profit at all.  Vorsholk was pretty bad, but there was 10 miners who came in at the beginning of the month, and they devastated us.  Frustrated...but knew this was bound to happen I guess.

Well unless they don't pay much/anything for electricity, they can't be making much of a profit either. So I'm hoping that they go and mine Bitcoin Gold next month and leave the rest of us to fold.

They seem to have all come together so hopefully they will all leave together too :)

     Me or someone else?

Now that vorsholk has stopped his abuse, I'm returning to folding.
I no longer MOO due to abuses by certain "whales" in the Gridcoin community - so I now work the Distributed.net project directly again.

I wonder why the 3 big new folks - khaterica, patrick1974, and khadosumi - decided to jump in bigtime the last couple weeks?

They're MOST of the growth in Curecoin PPD in that timeframe.

the profitability of mining alt coins was lower than folding at that point, enough so to get them to hop onboard, i assume. this was just before BTC started its last major rise and all alt coins were plummeting.

Yes let's hope that as soon as the alt coins perk back up that they leave.  Though I highly doubt that they will.

They don't seem inclined to leave - though someone has been, Curecoin team PPD has been dropping irregularly since about October 10 though it hasn't dropped to the level it was at before those 3 joined up.

Well in total, 10 new miners joined, and they took over the top 20 pretty quickly.  I think the fluctuation in points more has to do with the miners having problems with their cards rather than people leaving.  If you check their history, you'll notice that there are days when they appear to have issues, and because they produce such a large percentage of the numbers, it swings everything.  It's the problem when 20 people produce 50+% of your total.  10 people come in and they control everything.  They have issues and have downtime, and people rejoice, but looking at today, everything is going in their favour and team curecoin should be back to over 1.3 billion points and we'll all be back to fighting for scraps again.  At this point I wonder if mining vertcoin would be better..at least until it's split.

CURE just hit record highs in terms of USD value with a peak value of ~$0.92 per CURE. today was by far the largest payday i have ever had and i still have 2/3rd of my CURE remaining. days like today are why i started my last 30M PPD project.

yeah that was pretty crazy.  it's still holding around $0.45/Cure which alone is really high.  It just sucks that my three 1080tis are not producing what they were a few months ago.
