Hi,

I have two EVGA Kingpins 980 Tis in SLI and today when I turned on the computer I got this message at Post:
There is no GOP installed in your video card!! Then I pressed F1 to continue and Windows loaded up but in
device manager one of the 980s  was replaced by a generic windows driver. So I shut down and pressed on
the gpus making sure they were seated all the way down because I had just moved to a new place, and
when I rebooted it was normal.

Anyone know what happened??

Are my 980's going bad? They have a rep for going bad right?

Thanks

Bad Card or Bad Power Supply Maybe.
Re-seat them in the PCIe Slots and their Power Cables.

Time will tell I guess. Anyone have an updated GOP rom for the 980 Ti KPE?

    Thanks

Well it did it again. One of the cards didn't get recognized by device manager and showed up
as 'Windows display adapter' instead of 980 TI. I have a Corsair Ax1200i which is fairly new.
Using the orange OC bios. Could that be the cause?

    Thanks

PS: How can I figure out which one out of the two are misbehaving?

Specs of PC ? Mod Rigs ?

    OS ?

If PCIe are not Fully seated -- issues happen -- sometimes really bad outcome --> confirm aliment of MB and GPUs with case and SLI bridge

Its an MSI Godlike X99-A motherboard with a 5820K GPU and two 980 Ti Kingpins
running of an Corsair Ax1200i PSU and a MSI red dragon SLI Bridge on the 1st and
4th pci-e slots. Slightly overclocked to from 3.3 to 3.6 ghz. Windows 10 64 Pro.

Not related because I started experimenting with moding the video rom after this,
using the Maxwell Bios Editor I'm trying to get a more aggresive fan profile and
no matter what numbers I plug into the three fan profile rpd temp settings in the
editor it makes no difference. The GPU fan RPMs are doing their own thing running
low speed like always according to MSI Afterburner. I mean I get great temps if I rev up the rpms past 1800 in software. Need to set the rom to do it automatically.  Maybe the Temp Target setting needs to be adjusted.

Anyone have experience with this please help.

    Thanks.
