8 pin ATX connector and 4 pin ATX connector

Hi Guys,
 
So I recently bought a new motherboard which happens to have an 8 pin and a 4 pin ATX CPU Power connectors. However my corsair RM650 has only one such 8 pin connector and NOT the additional 4 pin. I have paired it with an i7 6700K. So the question here is will it work if I use just the 8 pin connector?

    Yes but overclocking it might make it unstable. It might not. Depends on how much power it tries to draw.

    You can buy a molex to 4 pin CPU adaptor but that might just be worse than leaving it out.

    You should use a PSU with Two EPS Connectors, most are 8-Pin that are made up of 2 4-Pin.

    Yes, it will work fine. Overclocking won't be a problem either...
     

     
    Note: A single 8-pin can support up to 288w alone.

    It can actually support more power than that by wire gauge but I def wouldn't want to put that much juice through the lead pins though. I think the resistance they would cause would melt everything since they are just hollow little fingers. Would be a interesting experiment if anyone wants to try it?!?!!?

    it will be fine, unless you start getting crazy high clocks. my x58 with a 6 core xeon has just one 8 pin connected and is fine

    Okay. I will get a new PSU later but don't know if the 6700K will be stable beyond 4.6 anyway.
