Hello all,

So I have a question that I am not sure if it has been asked before or if it is general knowledge.
I am running 2x 960's (the 2 gig model). When I look in my NVIDIA control panel they are both showing up and as SLI and all SLI
options are there and adjustable, here's my question: why is the total video memory only 14331 MB (i get that the memory won't be
the full amount that the card claims) but with them being in SLI wouldn't the memory also be shared? Shouldn't the video memory read something like 34331MB? Or am I missing some setting somewhere?

I am running an older Motherboard and an i7 920 oc'd to 3.something on windows 10. I have recently discovered this issue when Tom Clancy's GR wild lands came out and the default settings
was reading the memory usage almost maxed out.

Thanks for any help in advance!

Thanks man I will check all of these out. I do understand that it wouldn't double the amount of ram (the other card may have less usable ram than the 1st), but I would think it should still be more than 1.4gig that it's at now but like I said I will
    check those out.

    Thanks Again!

well  physical  and whats  reported may be what ever   like in this program  you see it don't report all the cards ram ?  you know like a 980 ti has 6144mb

GPU model: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Ti 10.18.13.5582 (4095MB) x1

then check like in the NVidia control panel   under the cards  ''dedicated''    should be  something like  2,044 mb  for a 2gb card  but whats available  is what the total ''available system memory '' it can draw off of   if I'm not mistaken   , like I got 16 gb  of memory  and 14gb is available
    https://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch001307.htm#windows-10

thing is  if you got a 2gb card  and its not reported as  like 2,048 like showed here   I would wonder if the cards memory was good ?

Basically the RAM is per card - Not added to the first card - Just the way it is with SLI

The GPU can only address the RAM physically on that video card

Thanks for the links Dr. Death, they were very informative and I learned a lot that I wished I knew when I purchased these 2 cards hahaha!!! But lucky me it's time for some updating anyway (this old x58 mobo is acting it's age), but 10+ years for an i7 920 @  3.6 isn't bad at all in my book. Again thanks for the help!!!

hard to say  some older stuff works great some just fade away

like here with this guy   I tried to point this out

    https://forums.evga.com/How-to-tell-if-issue-is-with-GPU-or-PSU-m2719910.aspx

all it takes is for that one part like a capacitor  or what ever to start to heat up and go buggy   a 11 year old system is well over most average electronics average life  I got one that old  but I don't expect it to do todays needs like it did when new   like gaming hard on it     ,

I don't think you done wrong  it could of all worked excellent as easy as it may not     .  new released parts on a 11 year old system  could be one of them the straw that breaks the camels back kinda thing  .

for you if its just that  memory thing ,  heck as long as it preforms well under load  its all good .

you can try and look at this  and see like set ups with your card in sli and compare there scores to yours and see if your in a good average or falling a bit short   if you feel your system is in the average  call it good  and keep on trucking on it

1422 results found   for guys running your CPU and gtx 960 sli   just under that basic firestrike  bench   ???    looks like a still popular rig  and doing the job  [seems that x58 is a solid platform  I see a lot of guys not giving theres up unless its a total failure]

    14331 MB = 14.3 GB's.

Total available graphics memory = dedicated video memory + shared system memory.

Running in sli does not double your vram amount. You'll still have 2GB's when sli'ing two 2GB cards together in sli.
