Hard to believe it's been 16 years since 911. This thread is to pay respect to the 2,996 people who lost their lives that day, and to their families, friends and co-workers, and particularly with deep respect to those from New York's Bravest (FDNY) and New York's Finest (NYPD) who gave their lives that day trying to help others. For me personally it is also respect to the 40 people from my work who died that day. R.I.P.

Feel free to pay your respects if you so wish.

..It is very sad I even have to say this, but to those few of you who every year feel that 911 memorials are a reason to spout your conspiracy theories, I ask you to please show at least a shred of decency and respect those who lost their lives, and those family, friends and co-workers who survived them, and keep your ranting off this thread. If you really feel you have to 'speak out', then you are welcome to start a new and separate thread - there is absolutely no reason you should have to post on this thread other than to intentionally disrespect others. Please, just don't.

Thanks.

I'm a day late here, but RIP to those who's lives were lost on that day.  Certainly a sad and tragic day in history.

As my wife, myself, and my mom sat here with no power and raging wind & rain (Irma), we talked briefly about what we saw on TV that day as planes flew into the towers and what a horrifying site that was.  As bad as what we were experiencing, it wasn't near as bad (for us) as what those in the towers suffered, and in the end, losing their lives.

It doesn't seem like it has been that long. I was watching the morning news as it happened. Terribly tragic. R.I.P.

Sadly not much has changed and many people intentionally try to downplay the attack and acknowledging what really happened, including Google, which once again can't be bothered with anything resembling US patriotism.
