5 thread/task here, looks to be pretty stable.  Gives me enough CPU to game/fold as well. ~3hr/task

Thank you for the photo, mine did not look like that. I myself clicked "read config files" and let it run but it didn't read them apparently (so it wasn't using the app_config) until I suspended the project and restarted BOINC. All is good now and it looks like your posted image, Thanks again.

Very odd. In your post 31 you show the correct project and your stats show in free-dc but not in the challenge stats. Perhaps those wu's were downloaded prior to the start of the challenge. If that is the case you can safely abort the un-started ones and download new ones.

those were prior to challenge WU. I had to turn things off last night so just started this morning as far as WU part of the challenge. You'll see me on the page once the current ones are done (about 2-3 hours from now).

does anyone have a link to directions on how to create or use app_configs on ubuntu or whatever its equivalent is? I'm fairly new to the linux side of the house and I have a few systems that i dont want ot run 1 task/thread. It'll take forever to get done. So a walk through somewhere on how to get started (for a beginner).  All i've done for my linux systems is to install boinc and i've been running 1task/thread on most things. Much appreciated ^_^.

I create the app_config in windows and transfer to the linux machine. I use Mint but Ubuntu should be very close. Go to File system>var>lib>Boinc Client>projects. In mint I need to provide password to open projects folder. Right click>open as root>authenticate. Drop app_config in correct project folder.
A thumb drive works or I've set up a public folder in Mint.

I still after years am a beginner with linux.

Here is what I found. Make the file with your text editor like you would in Windows. Save it and name it app_confix.xml
You can C & P the info from this thread to put in the file, use the browser in Linux.

Once done, from what I have found, put it in /var/lib/boinc-client/projects/www.primegrid.com

You maybe able to make the file in windows, put it on a thumb drive, copy it from there to /var/lib/boinc-client/projects/www.primegrid.com

My main problem is getting root access to the folder.  I can access it via terminal just fine using sudo but when i right click, there's no option to "open as root" or anything similar i'm able to find =( so i'm not able to drag and drop any type of file into it =(.

Via terminal i can see the program folders using sudo to access it on "ls".  I'll post pictures once i get home.

Try "gksudo nautilus" without quotes in terminal. Should get a pop up to enter password.

its the key to blowing up my computer!!!! >O.

I saw this post after I did it the hard way and used mv in the terminal and painstakingly figured out how to move files around LOL. But I needed to make a change anyways, so nautilus did unlock root for that one session =D.  Much appreciated!

Nautilus is the Ubuntu file system, in Mint it's Nemo.

Perhaps it's time to learn to use one of the LINUX file editors?

Now that vorsholk has stopped his abuse, I'm returning to folding.
I no longer MOO due to abuses by certain "whales" in the Gridcoin community - so I now work the Distributed.net project directly again.

A prime was found this challenge!

On 21 August 2017, 14:51:43 UTC, PrimeGrid’s Generalized Cullen/Woodall Prime Search found the largest known generalized Cullen prime:

1341174*53^1341174+1

Generalized Cullen numbers are of the form: n*b^n+1. Generalized Cullen numbers that are prime are called generalized Cullen primes. For more information, please see “Cullen prime” in The Prime Glossary.

The prime is 2,312,561 digits long and enters Chris Caldwell's The Largest Known Primes Database ranked 1st for Generalized Cullen primes and 30th overall.

The discovery was made by Hiroyuki Okazaki (zunewantan) of Japan using an Intel(R) CPU @ 2.90GHz with 16GB RAM, running Linux. This computer took about 12 hours and 39 minutes to complete the primality test using multithreaded LLR. Hiroyuki is a member of the Aggie The Pew team.

The prime was verified on 22 August 2017 17:24:17 UTC by user wuzzat of Australia using an Intel(R) Xeon(R) E5-2620 v3 CPU @ 2.40GHz with 256GB RAM, running Microsoft Windows Server 2008R2. This computer took about 31 hours 41 minutes to complete the primality test using LLR. Wuzzat is a member of the BOINC@AUSTRALIA team.

For more details, please see the official announcement.
