There have been some questions about PoS minting for CURE.

I figured we could have a separate thread for it.

CURE will only mint after it has been in your wallet for 30 days.

You have to unlock and encrypt your wallet first of all.

You should see something in the bottom left of your wallet that says:"Not staking because wallet is encrypted"

How to Encrypt your wallet:
Settings>Encrypt Wallet

How to unlock your wallet:
Open wallet>help>debug>console

(this is a command prompt window)
Type the following - change password for the the password you used to encrypt your wallet, I recommend not using a 8 word passphrase as I couldn't get it to unlock with such a password.

walletpassphrase password 999999999 true

Hit enter (if you get any messages after this command you did something wrong)

The 999999999 is the time in seconds for your wallet to be unlocked, this is not a permanent unlock, you will have to come unlock it again when time expires, and possibly when the program restarts.

You should see this icon in the bottom right of your curecoin wallet if you do it correctly.

Yes they say it is supposed to automagically start staking...but I don't see any notification in my wallet that it is doing thus.  Wondering if I should send my entire balance to my exchange and send it back and wait another 30 days so I have more coins staking haha.

    It's like a lottery.

The more coins you have and the older they are, they better chance you have at getting CURE back.

At least that is my understanding of it. I just started and mine are like only a week old...

So do I encrypt my wallet and just wait, or do I have to wait 30 days and then encrypt?
If I do that, will any CURE that gets distributed daily still be put into my wallet if it's encrypted, or do should I set up another wallet for them to mint?

Sorry for the questions, just never heard of this.

Encryption is to prevent anyone from hacking your wallet, it does not affect CURE income otherwise.

You have to have your wallet unlocked in order to be minting, which will start after your coins are 30 days old.

Any time a CURE is transferred, it starts the clock over, so last week's CURE is 7 days old, but yesterday's CURE is only one day old. If you were to transfer in CURE, that CURE is 0 today.

    Is that any better?

welp, i have had about 5-7k CURE sitting in my unlocked wallet for 37 days, so it should be staking, and in the first weeks time i haven't seen a single stake pop up. i kinda wish i didn't pull as much as i did when CURE started shooting to the moon a little over a week ago, as it never got high enough to where i would have sold it. if i hadn't then i know i would have had 20K CURE sitting there staking.

Now do not know if that single withdraw reset the timer for the whole wallet or simply subtracted the amount from the total staked. i also do not know when looking at stake holders if it prioritizes age over the amount, so the older the stake is the more likely it is to get a stake bonus regardless of how much is staked, or if its some where in between that and prioritizing amount staked over age.

It should tell you on your wallet how much is being staked.  And yeah you coulda made a killing.  It poped up to 30 cents there for a brief period.

OH, on the overview tab below balance? if so that number is 0.... so my withdraw last week must have reset the whole wallet... well if that is the case and one can never withdraw from the wallet to receive a stake i think i may have to keep the CURE i pulled out of my personal wallet and leave it in the exchange. all my daily deposits are going to my personal wallet now so the exchange CURE will be the CURE i use to play with the market trends and earn some capital there. oh, and as for making a killing i have about half my sell at ~$0.50 and the other half at ~$1.00, which it didn't reach. but that will sitting there for that moment when it does shoot up from the next pump/dump and/or major investment interest drastically increases the market value.

hmmm... well i was on v1.3.4 and updated to 1.9.2 but it still says the same thing. and you can plainly see the transaction was made on the 16th of last month, over 30 days ago. i did read on the curecoin forums to not expect to see staking bonuses until its nearly 3 months old! oh well, this is most definitely for those who do nothing but sit on their CURE.

EDIT: after looking at the blockchain i now have a problem i need to contact support over... i only sent 15k on the 16th on this month and it shows 15k leaving my wallet. but on the blockchain it shows an additional 5k leaving my wallet going to some random address and the totals do not match!

Does anyone know if it will show up as a separate deposit or will it just be grouped with daily distributions(basically undetectable on size of mint bonus)?

i know you see the deposits on the block chain so one would assume you will see a deposit on the wallet. though even after nearly 50 days of using my wallet again i have yet to see a single CURE listed as Stake on the overview page. that value may be the money earned from staked coins.

That's disheartening that it's still not listing the stake.  Maybe you're right.  We just don't know. Hopefully you find out soon for us :) would be great to know.

That is weird that it doesn’t show up on the left as Stake. But I can confirm that I also received a stake, mine was only .3 CURE 😂

I have some questions about doing cure coin. How easy is it to set up? Does the folding team you join matter?
Why would one need to unlock a wallet? Sorry, very noobish here. I do recall a similar process for my ethereum wallet but didn't fully understand it.

Curecoin has both POW (Proof of Work) and POS (Proof of Stake) as ways to earn CURE. POS is where you need coins sitting in an unlocked wallet that's at least 30 days old to earn. POW on the other hand is where you fold under the Curecoin team and register your account at https://www.cryptobullionpools.com. as for setup its very simple. just create a F@H username and passkey and then register that username on the site previously linked.

Does the wallet need to be unlocked before the coins will begin aging, or when they mature can you unlock it at that point?

they need to have been deposited 30 days prior for them to mature, after which you'll need to unlock to allow PoS.

I'm scared at how much more PS3ED is going to ramp up to regain his top spot.  How much more are we bottom dwellers going to lose?  How much more of a hit are top guys going to take.  It's like an arms race and the only people who are truly winning, are the hydro companies :P.  Cause let's face it, Stanford might not have the capacity to deal with the sheer amount of data they are now getting.

i found out what the "Stake:" value in the Overview tab means. its the transaction amount to which you earned your stake on, and not the amount you actually earned from the stake.

Well, for perspective, yesterday was the first time I've earned less than 100 CURE in a long time - but I lost a rig for a few days to a HD failure, should be back up *some* by the end of the weekend.
I AM irritated at Vorsholk over his farm, he's a bloody DEV and shouldn't be hurting everyone else this way.
A rig or two for TESTING, sure.
A TON of rigs like he has deployed is way excessive

Now that vorsholk has stopped his abuse, I'm returning to folding.
I no longer MOO due to abuses by certain "whales" in the Gridcoin community - so I now work the Distributed.net project directly again.

Yes.  All in the effort to make the coin harder for everyone else to get, to try and make the coin higher in price.  I read through the bitcoin talk thread and his explaination was that he was going to donate the monies to charity.  PS3ed already does that, so why do we need 2 people who do that?  All he is doing is screwing over everyone else and giving the dev team a really bad name.  But he obviously won't see it that way.

At this point it's easier to mint than it is to mine, almost.
