I am slightly confused with Intel's VROC on a x299 mobo.  If I want to create a bootable raid (raid 0) from m.2 drives, will I be able to do this with non-Intel brand drives, or will this only be able to be accomplished with Intel brand m.2's?

If you read this article, it will give you a pretty good understanding of VROC on X299.  > http://www.pcworld.com/article/3199104/storage/intels-core-i9-and-x299-enable-crazy-raid-configurations-for-a-price.html

Make sure you read the "What's the Catch" paragraph.
