Overclocking potential Z270 vs Z170 FTW

Hi.
 
Im looking to purchase a new MB but cant decide which to go for. My question is...
(As thread title) would a z270 with a i7 7700k overclock better on that MB vs a z170?
 
I realise there are many variables and differences between the boards but im not interested in extra's, only overclocking potential. e.g as to whether z170 would hold back a maximum overclock.

    the short answer is not really, while each will have their own happy spot it more on the cpu, if you compare the same cpu in both i doubt you would see much difference, now if it two different 7700k cpu's then you might see a difference due to how well each chip will OC.
