So, I bought GTA V for my PC cause I love the series and seriously got fed up getting 20fps on GTA IV. And before anyone says, oh you're computer is to low end to run GTA IV even on min reqs. Tell that to my 50fps on TbogT, makes no sense. Anyway, just wanted to see how well my computer will perform with GTA V. Below are my specs but I wanted to run by a few things first, I ordered a Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.89ghz processor and a high-end cpu fan that fits the LGA775 sockets. So the processor will be replaced anywhere from the 1st to the 4th of next month. Just to keep that in mind. But yeah, on-wards to my specs.

Intel core 2 duo e8400 3.00ghz / Processor
8gb DDR2 RAM / RAM
PNY Nvidia GT 1030 2gb / GPU
Intel DQ35JO / Motherboard

Please remember I am replacing the E8400 with the Q9550 quad.

Are we talking about GTA IV or GTA V? Seems like you kind of refrence GTA IV giving low frame rates for you other then the expansion TbogT which runs pretty good. GTA V though is a lot newer and would demand a better graphics card then GTA IV which is a pretty old game.

GTA V is insanely popular. I would head to YouTube and type in your specs along with GTA V. There's bound to be some footage or benchmark showing how it runs on a PC similar to yours.

I'll try both of these next week, my hard drive with all my games and files crashed at some point last night.

Is there any reason why you are keeping with socket 775? Even upgrading to used socket 1366 would be a significant jump in performance. There are deals to be had with used hardware a few generations old.

The thing is, that gtaIV(4!) was the first game, which cry @give me cores@ ! It was the time of core revolution for games, and exactly then all ran to upgrade systems just for gta. So yes u will see great fps increase with 4core cpu.
If we are talking about gta and cpu upgrade, i want to remember this winter video about kabylakes g630, watch from 2:05:

    Time to upgrade mate...
