So next year the rights to The Terminator revert back to Cameron. He is interested in a trilogy so this should be interesting if something good can come out of it as I feel that the only true Terminator films were the 2 Terminator films directed by Cameron.

He hasn't made anything good in so long I have my doubts, especially since he's turned into the typical Hollywood liberal.

The Abyss was good but then they released the Directors cut and that sucked the joy and excitement from the movie.  Stick to the studio edited version.  Avatar was ok, but Titanic was trash.

I would be happy if they gave the movie control to the team that did the Sarah Conner Chronicles that I enjoyed.

Not that it matters, James takes so long on a single project he will sadly be long gone before we see a movie.  :(

    Battle Angel Aleta anyone?

Some things just need to fade away. The whole concept and story line no longer fits with the world today. I think he'd be better off with a new concept and a new project.

Cameron does a good job at all of his movies. The problem is, he takes way to freakin long to release anything.
Today, I am more impressed with what Ridley Scott & Christopher Nolan are doing.
I saw Dunkirk on opening day at the IMAX down in Miami beach. Absolutely incredible !!!
The last war movie that left such an impact was 1997's Saving Private Ryan. Steven Spielberg, another great director.
Cameron is working on Avatar 2,3, & 4. We were supposed to get at least #2 this year, but its been delayed so many times.

If you are into Cameron's older movies and purchase them on Blu-Ray, there is a huge discussion in a forums page where everyone is discussing why isn't "The Abyss, and "True Lies" on Blu-Ray yet?
Both movies were great. James even stated at Comic Con 2016 that they would release sometime next year (2017). They are taking high res scans from the 35mm print and doing 4K transfers to Blu-Ray & 4K UHD.
Comic Con 2017 just finished, and we still don't have an update on either of those movies.
Terminator 2 gets a 3D release next month in theaters. https://www.fandango.com/terminator2:judgmentday3d_200453/movieoverview

So when you read something like James is considering a new terminator franchise. The 1st thing that comes to my mind is "Wow, that's cool, but I wonder if I will still be alive by the time it releases."

Couldn't agree more. Just too easy to half-ass a remake than it is to create something new. If enough people stop paying to watch it the industry will begin to change, eventually.

I enjoyed that show as well.

I don't have high hopes for this trilogy if we do get them. I wish they would just do a HBO or Showtime series with the future setting in Terminator. I always thought that would make for a good show.

exactly, these re-boot films are growing tiresome, its like they dont have a original concept at all anymore

Dark Angel was James Cameron's series. I wish he would redo that one.

They need to stop beating a dead horse. The only new terminator I liked was the one with Christian Bale but even that one didn't do well overall in theaters.

let the franchise go and make something new.  It's bad enough they're making 4 more avatar movies. FOUR.
