My build consists of a 1080ti (likely FTW3 if I can actually find one in stock), I7 7700k, 16gb ddr4 2400 ram, a z270 motherboard and a few RGB case fans. I'm not sure if 650w will give me the headroom I'd like for upgrade paths, but the 750w is a bit pricey. Any ideas?

    Welcome to the forums.

You can use the EVGA Power Meter to estimate your PSU need where you will also receive a 10% discount code in your email that's good for 30 days toward the purchase of any EVGA PSU from the EVGA Store in the U.S. shopping cart.

Alternatively, you can use the Outervision Power Supply Calculator, which is much more detailed.

You might also want to browse through the PSU FAQs over at JonnyGURU, especially "Is there such a thing as too much power?"..An oversized (wattage-wise) PSU is often a good choice for the reasons explained.

    Thanks! It seems friendly here.

I had no idea there were any power calculators, that's awesome, thanks for the links. Unfortunately the 10% discount won't work for me since I'm in Canada though :\

    1080ti (likely FTW3) 750w
      $129.99   $119.99

     $109.99  $99.99

Still a great PSU  $114.32 on Amazon
What is nice about getting a G2/G3/P2/T2 is you can exchange Cables.
Get a Gold or Higher being that you are getting a GTX 1080 Ti Card.

You can find them on sale all the time.

    Thanks for all the info!

    Okay now I have another idea;
Should I save some money and get the G2 variant? It seems that the only benefit of G3 is it's smaller and silver-y instead of black?

You can go to the product pages (open "Products" at the top of this forum page) of the PSUs, then click the boxes near "Compare" and then click "Compare"..The G2 has a 140mm Double Ball Bearing fan and the G3 has a 130mm
Hydraulic Dynamic Bearing which is better and supposed to be quieter, and the G3 is just a bit smaller..Personally, I'd roll with the G3.

Seems like that's what I'll be doing. It also looks better in my opinion so that's a plus.

It's impressive that the fan is better while also being 10mm smaller, new technology is cool man.

650w should be fine unless you're trying to move to a card over 300W. If you're trying to SLI, you're going to most likely need more than 750w anyways

always go bigger, less load on the PSU means cooler temps which means less fan noise, plus with a 10yr warranty it will serve you well for future builds that may need more power, personally i would go at least 750w or 850w
