I don't want to derail this thread too much. See post #5. Yes, I am happy with its size and performance. My concern is how warm the power adapter and CPU gets after extended gaming sessions, though.

Looks like a nice machine and at a nice price. I'd probably ditch the mechanical drive and replace it with a 2.5" SSD, and bump the ram up to 32GB, other than that.. nice!

That's good. I would like to buy the computer but its battery is just way to small that it probably could not even make it 4 hrs. So if I could make a suggestion for an upgrade option it would be to remove the HDD and have a larger 85+WH battery for $100. If you do that I will definitely buy it and I am sure many more would.

the SC15 product seems to be a good one but there are a lot of competitors. If you want to make the difference, for instance in France, we are sensible to the product quality: so if you offer an extra year of waranty (so 3 years, maybe only for the launch time), it could be a nice argument to make the difference with other competitors. If not, a cash back is always nice. Because, i m a little scare about the price of this product compared to others. The first price with a 1060 is around 1000-1200€ (Lenovo Legion). Not sure that lots of poeple will pay twice. On the product, things that bothers me: - only a 5400RPM hard disk. 7200RPM could be nicer for a 1TB hard disk. - no choice for the screen: vsync and 120hz are for gamers, but some poeple just want an accurate contrast (more than 1500:1 VA technology is nicer than IPS and could be an outstanding proposal for graphic works). So, in that case, it could be nice to restore the optimus technology which could help for the battery life. - not enough autonomy: maybe use the place of the hard disk to put a powerfull battery but in that case, it's mandatory to put a 500 Gb on M2. For the futur, - use Nvidia Max-Q Design: maybe it will be possible to replace normal 1060 by a 1080 Max-Q - make a survey on the rysen cpu which seems to be much powerfull than intel cpu. - include a dac for the sound (sabre for instance)

120hz is absolute must for me after using those types of screens (and 144hz screens) for the best part of 2 years now. I switched my monitor down to 60hz just to see if i could tell the difference between how i play now and how i used to play and OMG... never going back to 60hz again. It felt like a lagfest compared to 120hz. The 5400rpm HDD isn't really a problem for me as i'd just switch it out for a 1TB SSD i have spare anyway.

That's true, it definitely is a couple of hundred bucks more than most other 1060 laptops out there. At this stage though, with there still being no SC15 page on the european website, this late into the game it would make more sense to not purchase it at all and wait for Nvidia's next gen GPU's. No doubt EVGA will be doing a refresh and putting a GTX 2060 in their next SC15.

Before the new 2000 serie (2018 probably), there will be the 1070 Max-Q. Quite sure it could be a nice alternative to the 1060 if the price don't grow...

I think EVGA abandoned the SC15 project outside of USA. They're probably on the verge of doing a refresh of it with nvidia's next gen GPU and Intel's Coffee Lake CPU. Might as well wait another quarter and that will surely replace the current SC15.
