I am using a 6800K on an EVGA FTW K X99 and I get the WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR blue screen once in a while. I have the cpu currently clocked at 4.2 GHZ and I did stress test it everything was fine. The error randomly happens during gaming sessions.  I tried raising my voltage thinking it was the issue, but looks like the error is still present. Is there a way to fix that without running the cpu @ 3.4 ghz all the time. Here is my CPU-Z:

Thank you for your help,

That looks like a TON of voltage for just a 4.2 OC.  I would seriously lower that asap.  You're just lessening the longevity of your chip.  Need to OC manually and not use the auto voltage and other OC settings if this is the case.  You could also have a temp issue with that type of voltage.

Use this Associate Code at your checkouts or follow these instructions for Up to 10% OFF on all your EVGA purchases:

100% agree.. The voltage should be far lower, so the problem may be stemming from slamming voltage into the processor. It could be heat related issues.

I was using + 125 Offset  and adaptive, but I increased it to test if it was the cause of the error or not.

    Which error?

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/debugger/bug-check-0x124---whea-uncorrectable-error

That said, the last time I had a whea_uncorrectable_error was when my X99 Classified mysteriously set one of my DDR4 RAM channels to default voltage, yet not the other one. It forced me to clear the CMOS and set the correct voltage again.

I've not seen that random voltage change since I replaced the CMOS battery.

I'm not too sure most of the time. Most of the times I don't even get a BSOD(sometimes I do). It just freezes with the audio going crazy as if it was a BSOD, but I still see whatefver I was doing.

I did lower my voltage as suggested and the amount of crashes has been significantly increased. I've crashed 3 times in the past 4 hours already.

Do a cmos reset, and run at stock everything. See if you still get crashes.

You answered your question - it's an unstable OC. Time to start over again. I'd start at a lower multiplier, say 38 or 40 and see if you can get it stable. Your CPU and/or motherboard is NOT liking 42.

Also what RAM are u using and what are you OCing it too?

Regardless, it was a bad OC all around in general.

I am not OCing RAM. I am using DDR4-2133.

I bet the .dmp file would show a cpu cache error if I were to run the file through windbg. Sounds like you lost the silicon lottery since you can't get 4.2 stable. Time to try 4.1, 4.0, etc.

4.1 was also unstable, but looks 4.0 is actually stable.

Be careful with the voltage... too much voltage can actually make a stable overclock go unstable from the heat. More is not always better
