There was a rumor going around a while back that Vega will have a high TDP and apparently some AMD Vega partners seem to believe this.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

25 watts separate the Xp and Vega. Not that much, really.

Also, lets wait for the performance figures before we judge whether or not the TPD is high.

    EDIT:

My mistake, Titan Xp has a 250 watt TDP. Still, 50 watts may not be that big of a deal if the top end Vega turns out to be a performer.

That is a big IF. AMD/Radeon is spending a lot of time delaying this release.

For me big power consumption is not problem, I'm almost sure that I will go on Ge Force but there is small chance that Radeon is better better option.
This really become long waiting and annoying.

AMD is reaping the benefits of being the tock to Intel's tick on product launches this year with things like Threadripper. It does not hurt AMD if they launch later. In fact it actually helps them.

Doesn't mean there is a significant problem with the product. Could very well be a strategic reaction to Nvidia.

I believe AMD is going to take their time and make sure this turns out right. The rumor mill says that AIB partners have final samples to play with at this time.

I'm hoping so. All I really need from AMD here is a VGA that has similar performance and efficiency as Nvidia's 1070. At, preferably, a lower MSRP.

I am hoping AMD pulls this off, but AMD has fallen short on the gpu market in the past, and they need to come back with something truly ground breaking. The Fury X went well for a while after launch, but they haven't offered anything worth looking at, and the "leaks" that have been appearing don't back what AMD was claiming. Hopefully they were able to refine the launch and it goes well.

HBM2 memory production issues at Hynix have been widely reported.

Now that vorsholk has stopped his abuse, I'm returning to folding.
I no longer MOO due to abuses by certain "whales" in the Gridcoin community - so I now work the Distributed.net project directly again.

That doesn't equate to a performance problem with the product. The reason for the delay is the poor yields in HBM2 production.

I was mentioning it as WHY AMD has had to delay VEGA - if they can't get enough RAM, they can't sell the cards.

Which counters my point that it's a strategic delay. Simply a shortage of memory modules.
