I recently did a reformat and clean install of windows 7 with my 2 velociraptors in raid 0 and i notice very poor load times in games that was previously very fast. I have not installed any other drivers but gpu and soundcard. Am i missing something?

I didnt go back into my bios when doing the reformat and clean install, i assume my raid configurations would stay the same.

Even though windows 7 has the raid drivers built in. Have you tried a newer version of chipset drivers? Since you said you only had gpu and sound drivers installed. And are you using the intel or jmicron raid?

Ok im replying to my old message because im still loading games like lfd2 really slow, by the time I load a map some people are already playing.  These are 2 velociraptors in raid 0 which I assume should be really really fast?  Besides the suggestions above what else should I do, I plan to reformat my hd again when I get my gpu back from rma.

Im getting a 6.3 score in windows experience, I also downloaded the intel raid management driver from the evga classifeid drivers.
So i mean basically I reformat, install gpu drivers, sound drivers, chipset drivers, intel raid management driver and I should be good to go right?

I've ran raid0 alot myself, however seems to me its faster in some areas and slower in others, so i dont even bother, imo its overrated !

I've read that overclocking the CPU messes with the Intel RAID and that in order to get around that one must use the J Micron ports.  I'm getting drive failure warnings and am not in RAID on windows 8.1.  I'm hoping to replace the drives with high caps and rebuild this as a multi point user rig (split cores and use virtualization for multiplayer gaming and or productivity) and internal NAS storage in one box (antec 1200).  I'm not even sure if this motherboard supports PCIe control for virtualization, but I guess I'll find out.  If anything perhaps I can do a single power user with internal NAS considering that the motherboard has two NICs onboard.

didnt hurt mine at all. my raid runs the same speed no matter what. the jmicron ports run about 5% slower also

says that when he OCs it degrades his RAID performance.  I'm just trying to do through research before I invest additional time and money into storage.  I've got about 12 TB of data across a handful of drives that I want to consolidate into one network accessible array.  I'd rather use what I've got than buy an additional controller :/

or you could through together a NAS box with a spare MB. use FreeNAS or NAS4Free,
