Hi,

I am running:
EVGA X58 motherboard with an i7 processor (forget which exactly)
6gigs of corsair zms3 ddr3 ram
geforce gtx 470 graphics card

I want to upgrade my ram and graphics card. And seek suggestions.
I do a lot of Maya cloth and hair simulation and plan to edit 4k video as well. On the wish list is to do away from dual 24" monitors and get a big 32 inch screen, or perhaps go to a triple 24 or 27 inch screens setup.

What do you guys think?

Thanks you in advance!

you can go with a 10 series but it will be bottle necked some. it will really depend on what cpu you have and its speed and what games you are running, for lower overhead games that use vulcan it will perform better.

What's nice about the X58 chipset that it supports  both SLI and Crossfire.

So what gpu did you get ?  or still looking.

A GTX 980 Ti  or more affordable GTX 970 providing your motherboard acceptance of UEFI BIO/ Firmware.

i can say for a fact that all 900 series nvidia cards will work in a x58, this is my X58 classified 760 with the westmere mod and 6 core xeon with my GTX 970 SSC+ http://www.3dmark.com/fs/12894462. works great
