Yeah I'm earning almost $7 a day right now with nicehash on my 1080Ti and my cpu with Cryptonight.  Probably going to be this way till the forking happens.

I'm sitting on .045 bitcoin as it keeps rising in value. I'll probably start to sell off after the fork. I'm just hoping it retains the value. Nicehash is working good for me so far. But now it's hinging on heh they do the layout before the fork as most wallets will be frozen around that time.

I think it might correct back down right after the fork as everyone collects their forked coin and goes back to buying cheap alt coins and pushes the rest of the market back up.  But we won't know till it actually happens.

I think It'll drop as well after the fork. The trick is being able to sell once it all stabilizes and trading resumes on the exchanges. Coinbase is halting trading and receiving a full 24hrs before the fork and are noncommittal on when they'll resume. Just a vague "when it stabalizes" comment. Not to mention the uncertainty about whether a new blockchain emerges or it successfully converges.

well, i think i'll continue my trend of posting my monthly comparison of Merged Folding -Vs- Nicehash with last month's numbers. this go round was actually slightly more income per GPU for Merged Folding than last month by ~3%, $3.95 per 1080ti. and just to clarify, these numbers are as if you sold what you earned the day you earned the CURE/FLDC and not what they are worth now. Nicehash on the other hand had some rough periods this last month dropping to almost $2.50 during my brief testing. i can not give you an exact number here as i didn't have a GPU running nicehash all month but i think i can easily assume $3.00 +- $0.25.

Can't really count the FLDC as of "day earned" though since you can't spend it 'till early the next month after the distribution, though.

Used to be there was almost always a spike of some sort late in the month, but the last couple of months I was folding the "spike" kept being less than the drop DURING the month.

Now that vorsholk has stopped his abuse, I'm returning to folding.
I no longer MOO due to abuses by certain "whales" in the Gridcoin community - so I now work the Distributed.net project directly again.

true, but i did state that the amount listed is how much a 1080ti would make at the time the coin is earned after one full month of Merged Folding. what the market does after the time earned isnt relevant to my statements because all markets go up/down and no calculator will truly be accurate/relevant past what it calculates for now.

and actually this go round FLDC had a big buy shortly after the last distro.

I'm super new to this.

I used to mine many years ago using bitminter but I got into that too late. I recently had a desire to mine 'something' again. I ended up doing ETH with Claymore's miner. Quite straight forward and interesting 'profit'. I figured I'd just hold the eth and maybe what's done today will seem much more worth while by next year.

I then stumbled upon nicehash.... pretty cool for a noob feeling overwhelmed by it all. I really like that it just pays out into BTC and does all the hard work for me. I'm probably going to switch between claymores and nicehash for a while. Sometimes nicehash seems to lag my system quite hard. I'm just doing casual mining on my daily rig. I do run Claymores -ethi turned down, which works well.

I haven't looked into FLDC, curecoin yet. My 1070 is currently displaying 3.34 USD est as a write this. Which is fine by me! As this isn't a farm, and I have about 20 tabs open right now and a good 12 windows, anything is a bonus as long as it doesn't annoy me. I have no problems watching YT etc most of the time (occasionally it does seem to lag very hard) It's pretty cool :)

they are not gone, yet, and not with everyone's money as it was stolen from them, they didn't steal it. the way you make it sound is that nicehash stole everything and ran, which is not the case here.

I never said "everyone's money", I said "a lot of people money". Trust in Nicehash is so compromised I don't think they can come back from it. You have to admit that Nicehash promoting people to keep their coins in Nicehash's wallet and now it's gone so easily is a bit fishy. How could Nicehash not keep millions in Bitcoin secured better? I'm not a miner, but I know how important it is to have the most secure wallet you can for your main stash, preferably a hardware wallet. This is just too stupid of Nicehash and they said they would be back in 24 hours, yet they are not back as of this post.

They only recommended their own wallet for buyers. There wasn't much benefit in their wallet anyway if your hashing was good enough.

Very misleading. Most people using Nicehash are new miners and for the miner to have the coins in their own wallet is the benefit, period. Nicehash made it harder for new miners to do that, so there was zero benefit to the miner to have their coins in Nicehash's wallet as they are now GONE and who knows who actually benefited for that huge multi million dollar mistake. I would say Nicehash was the beneficiary of this hack, I think it was an inside job. The whole way Nicehash was set up was for such a perfect hack.

honestly as long as they continue to prove that they are the most profitable way of selling hashing power they will remain very much alive. though i did lose out to this hack there is nothing that will stop be from using their service again, though i will not use their wallets.

if nicehash does not change their policies on their wallet service i would be strongly surprised and that would put up a red flag for me. everyone doing anything with crypto at this point should know that any online wallet can get hacked. its happened quite regularly and at this point is almost expected. this is because websites like exchanges/nicehash are the weak link in crypto right now. there is no other way to steal coins than though these methods, at least for now.

Any of these automated services are vulnerable to hacks like this. Most businesses have to deal with this all the time. There are lots of money stolen in wire transfers via spearphishing and hacks, this is ko different. Exchanges have different issues and at least Coinbase has insurance and some Licenses. It does sound like nicehash didn't lockdown their payment systems in a secure way, but anytime hackers get in you're in trouble. I assume they'll be back, but I wouldn't your breath they make it soon.

What does Facebook have to do with this?

NiceHash announced the security breach on its Facebook page Wednesday afternoon, saying it is investigating the incident and stopping operations for 24 hours. NiceHash also recommended that users change their online passwords as a precaution, though they added “the full scope of what happened is not yet known.”

Wow, nice find. I didn't know about Nicehash's CTO Matjaz Skorjanc's illegal "dark" past. Nicehash isn't coming back. Such a shame, this was so helpful to new miners and they got screwed for trusting Nicehash.

Let's just hope they come back so everyone will shut up about not knowing where to go and not knowing where to mine.  The subs on reddit are being literally being flooded by people who you would swear should be dying in their sleep because they aren't alive to remind themselves to breathe every few seconds.  OMG.

They didn't make it ANY harder to put your mined coins into your own wallet (or an exchange waller) than ANY pool does.
You only HAD to keep coin in their wallet "between payouts" or if you were a BUYER.

Inside job - possible, but that could happen to ANY company that has employees.
