hyp36rmaxBoth the Cablemod and Seasonic 6+2 PCIE cables are the dual variety.  Try isolating to one cable per PSU end just like the diagram above.

I saw that diagram when I first installed the 1050 so I definitely went with a single dedicated cable for each connection on any video cards I was using.

GTXJackBauerI would still go with the same company.

I too still have faith in SeaSonic. I still have the other PSU from them that hasn't had any issues.

SilentMarketlooks don't matter in the end

Despite the non-matching aesthetics, I'll probably just keep using the older black/gold SeaSonic 1250 since it's working just fine. I've put too much into this build lately (custom open water cooling loop, EVGA power links, new fans, etc.) to be getting another PSU for it. This build is like a spoiled child at this point. Regardless, I'd like to start another build soon (small, portable Mini-ITX) so Black Friday and Cyber Monday will be helpful for that one.

RanmacanadaYou're just lucky the PSU didn't go out in a ball of flames haha.  Glad it was solved and no hardware was killed in the process.

GTXJackBauerTo be fair, it was a Seasonic so that could be the reason why it didn't take the whole house with it.

Yeah, I got lucky. I had an entire system killed by a power surge once in the past and it was no picnic.

Surge protectors only work for a few years and then the protection part stops working. You can still use them as an outlet but offer no protection.

I read a good article on it about a year ago and bought a good one for like $25 bucks.

You know when the protection is bad when the outlet provides 0 power anymore.

Also stated that high dollar surge protectors are no better then most you can buy for like $20-25 bucks.
They may come with other features you won't need or want.

If your interested in the one I'm using I can find a link to it.. pretty sure I bought it off Amazon.
