Does anyone know what is the maximum number of cards Precision can support?
I read from somewhere that Precision XOC will only support up to 4 graphics cards but am not sure if that's true or if this still holds.
If this is truly the case, does that mean it'll be impossible to put five or more SC2 or FTW3 cards in the same rig as the async fans will not be supported by Afterburner?

Thanks in advance!

None when I asked this a few year back, why would they when NVIDIA only support up to 4-Way SLI and NOW Only SLI or 2-Way SLI.

Miners use crazy numbers of cards.  I would appreciate more card support please as well.

DX12 Doesn't use or need SLI to utilise multiple GPUs but I don't know if 4 is the limit for that either.

That wasn't my point. With DX12 able to use several graphics cards, it might be prudent to show more than 4 in Precision. I'm just unaware what the max number of cards DX12 can utilise at a time.

Miners want to be able to Overclock their Graphics Cards and Set the Fans for the use in Mining and that is why Miners want PXOC to Support More Than 4 GPUs.
Mining Does Not Use DX12 Or SLI nor can you set the GPU Clocks or Fans with DX12

I don't know why you keep mentioning mining. I know DX12 doesn't allow you to set the clocks, it doesn't use mining or SLI either although the latter is optional. If only there was a program to allow you to set the clocks and fans on more than 4 graphics cards to use multi-GPU in DX12 games. Ah well, one can dream.

Because that is what this Thread is about asking EVGA to change PXOC to allow up to 15 GPU for the use of Mining.
It has nothing to do with Gaming, it is about Mining for members that need support for More Than 4 Graphics Cards.
Most Miners are looking at 6 to 15 Graphics Cards solely for Mining for Coin in a single Computer.

Dx12 wouldnt use more than 4 gpu's anyway.. how do we know that? Because developers are too lazy to program anything that uses dx12 to leverage that many gpu's at once.

It's not ideal to use MSI software to control ICX cards, only can control 1 fan.  Please EVGA allow more than 4 cards, SLI not required.

Can you post WHY you need PXOC to support more than 4 Graphics Cards? (For Others to Understand Why)

I have always used Precision on my main PC and really like it.  I put togther a mutt of a mining rig with 1 new 1070 SC2 (didn't do my research on fan control) and 5 used 1060s.  Precision is the only way to control fans on an ICX card and I really dislike the layout of Afterburner as well.

A workaround for mining would be to disconnect the Fans from the GPU and use the Fan Headers on your MB or use a Fan Controller.

I need to support 8x cards for pentesting/cracking.  We use custom python + opencl code and OC, gives us about a 15% increase in speed.  We also OC the CPU.  Just came across this issue as we added our 5th FTW3 gpu to a new prototype rig. We OC GPU mem (slightly), core, and set fans on high (good as a winter heater, and easier to replace then if something else went out).

Our machines sit in the middle between Machine Learning / Mining.

At least with the FTW3s we can reconfig the 2nd bios (but 2 cards in proto rig are sc2).

Re: Maximum number of cards Precision XOC can support 2018/01/21 22:33:01 (permalink)
I got it working on 5+  (currently messing with 7 atm).

Ill try to be as detailed as possible but theres a baby so who knows if hell will break lose.  We need kboost etc for cracking/pen testing.  Our rigs fall midway between mining and machine learning.  We need to mess with stuff in PXOC.  We use more than 4 gpus per machine.

Basically the issue is this, PXOC can only handle 4 gpus...  what is inferred is "at a time."  This method so far is working with bulk settings.  Individual tweaks, I would not recommend bc of how its handled and possibility of misassignment.

The russian youtube msi pxoc theme change thing did not work for us.  Plus this way you can use your ICX fans.

Assuming win 10.
1) Boot up normal.  Kill everything you boot into (afterburner- I wold disable  so it doesn't mess up settings, pxoc, mining software, whatever)
2) Kick up device manager, display adapters.
3) Right click on all but 4 of your gpus, and disable.
4) Boot up PXOC, it will only see 4 cards...
5) Max sure cards are linked (usually on smaller setups, we individually changed settings to each card, not doing here).
6) Have patience, when configuring 2-4 cards, sometimes it seems like it will hang.  Just be patient and change settings slowly, preferably with a beer.
7) Kick fans up to 100% (if u want),
8) Enable kboost.  Note: if this hangs, switch this step and step 5) and enable kboost individually then link.
9) Obviously this whole time you should be applying settings...
10) Exit PXOC, make sure its really exited
11) Go back to device manager, disable the ones that are enabled, and enable the ones that are disabled.  Don't be an idiot and disable the card hooked up to the display (we use onboard video, so does not apply to us).
12) Repeat steps 3)-10).
13) Now the really important part...  do NOT boot up mining stuff or whatever.  It will hang.  (It thinks some cards are disabled when they are not) REBOOT FIRST.
14) Open up PXOC (but don't make changes without another reboot) and verify.  You should see kboost, fan settings etc stuck around post reboot.
15) Mine, crack, or machine learn...

Gear:  This proto rig = 7 gtx 1080 tis FTW3 hybrids... we would have more setup if the damn miners didn't keep buying out all the 1600w Evga PSUs. =)  I have a hamster on a wheel powering the 8th and hes not cutting it.

Is it really so difficult to make a program in order to be able to edit in BIOS at least this long-suffering fan speed ?? Sense to buy your card if you take and stitch there 20% at 70+ degrees ????
