As the title suggests. I have 2 EVGA GTX 970s and have them in the correct slots. The sli bridge is secure. I installed drivers and my PC recognizes both GPUs, however, I cannot enable SLI in my Nvidia Control Panel. Any suggestions?

There are like 5 different X99A boards. Which one do you have? Are both your 970's the same part #? Are both the cards running at x8?

Welcome to the forums..Check GTX 970 and SLI functionality for SLI compatibility..The cards may not be SLI compatible with each other..Be sure of that first.

Try deleting the drivers, restart the system, let windows do the install and see if the SLI bubble message pops up when it's done. You can update the drivers later if it works.

X99A Gaming Pro Carbon

One 970 is SSC and one is FTW. Not sure if they are at x8 or x16 tbh.

Hi Bob. That was one of the first things I did. They are compatible.

I'll have to give this a try later today. Windows should automatically prompt to install after a while? I normally just uninstall and go to nvidia for the drivers.

The cards need to be installed into pci-e slots #1 & #3. The cards must be running at least x8 for sli to work.

They are in slots 1 and 3 and are both x16

Then you may have a faulty sli bridge, or faulty sli fingers. Test each set of sli fingers using a flexible sli bridge.

I have tried 3 sli bridges and both fingers. Could my Intel i7 6800K be to blame?

I doubt it. Maybe the SSC & FTW aren't compatible to SLI.

unless you got some way to test this ??

as a joke anymore I like to say  SLI = Sudden- Loss of  Income .    just seems to be getting more a afterthought  these days then it use to be back when .

unless you / your buddy got another SLI build to test the 2 card in to see  if something goes there or not  ?

just seems if the 2 cards are recognized and at full x16  [though  2cards on that CPU  your using should be at 16 x8  not both at x16 each seeing that's a 28 lane cpu  and the board is speced as that ]

- Support x16/ x0/ x0/ x0, x16/ x16/ x0/ x0, x16/ x16/ x0/ x8, x8/ x16/ x8/ x8 with the CPU that supports 40 PCIe lanes.
- Support x16/ x0/ x0/ x0, x16/ x8/ x0/ x0, x8/ x8/ x8/ x0, x8/ x8/ x8/ x4 with the CPU that supports 28 PCIe lanes.
• 2 x PCIe 2.0 x1 slots
https://us.msi.com/Motherboard/X99A-GAMING-PRO-CARBON.html#hero-specification

then
''Max # of PCI Express Lanes   =  28 ''

https://ark.intel.com/products/94189/Intel-Core-i7-6800K-Processor-15M-Cache-up-to-3_60-GHz

so if the 2 card are all showing there at full x16 with out a plx chip  ???????

another sad thing is evga 970 cards and matching them for sli is a thing  with them     as sais like from here the 970 was not a ''true ''  NVidia card  [assume any brand ]

If you've already worked your way though our GTX 980 review, then you'll know that unlike that card, Nvidia is not producing a reference model of the GTX 970, the second enthusiast-grade Maxwell part that replaces the GTX 770 in the product stack. The images on this page do not reflect a ready to buy product. Instead, Nvidia's AICs will be able to purchase the GPU and memory chips, but after that it's up to them, and this will undoubtedly lead to a high degree of variability when it comes to PCB and cooler design as well as factory overclocks.  [bit-tech.net]

Furthermore, as we mentioned in our GTX 980 review, GTX 970 has been a pure virtual (no reference card) launch, which means all of NVIDIA’s partners are launching their custom cards right out of the gate. A lot of these have been recycled or otherwise only slightly modified GTX 700/600 series designs, owing to the fact that GM204’s memory bus has been held at 256-bits and its power requirements are so low. [Anandtech .com]

as the 2 state  no reference desgine ??   so may not have to hold to NVidia spec like sli compatibility would fall under  ???   who knows ,

Hello,

based on your registered products your two 970's are not compatible in SLI. I will email you directly to assist with an RMA for a matching part number.

EDIT: looks like we have already started an RMA to assist with a matching part number.
