Have a friend who is on a budget but wants to upgrade his video card.  He games on a 1440p 65Hz monitor and wants settings relatively high to see all the details of the game.  Price is a factor, I have seen 980 Ti's being sold for around $300 which seems to be his best bet over a $400 1070.  There's also a local guy on Craigslist selling EVGA 970 SC two cards (SLI)for $280.  Or can go the 1060 6GB SLI route ($250ish each - buy 1 card now, grab the 2nd card in a month or two).

He plays the same type of games that I do - MMORPG's, we're currently playing FFXIV (past games have been EQ/EQ2, WoW, Tera, Aion).  When I upgraded platforms I gave him my old setup (minus a video card) so he has an i5 4670k and 32GB of DDR3

So what do you guys think?

The 1060's can't be SLI'd unless you use software hacks like THIS to get it working. 980 ti is the best option if he cannot afford a 1070.

Ah, didn't know the 1060s couldn't SLI.

I'll let him know to be on the look out for a 980 Ti then.  Thanks for the help!
