Hey folks,

I built my latest computer with an EVGA hybrid water cooler for the graphics card. It has run just fine for the last 6 months with no temperature issues whatsoever. Several days ago, the GPU temp spiked and I figured out that an air bubble had gotten into the system and was preventing cooling. After turning my rig on its side and restarting, the air bubble moved and the problem was fixed.

Is there a way to remove that air bubble from the system? Or add enough water to force it out or something?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

    Hello,

there is no way to bleed the air bubble out of the Hybrid however now that it has settled there should be no further issues.

    I apologize for the inconvenience.

I have continued to have issues with what I assume is the air bubble. Today I moved the radiator up to the roof of the case, but it still seems to be running hot. Could the bubble have caused the pump to fail?

    Thanks!

Make sure the tubes are at the lowest point of the radiator, so that the air bubble floats to the top.

if enough air is trapped around the impeller then yes it could damage the pump. the astek uses a floating wet bearing were as the water is the bearing. there is away to fill it and try and get the air out but it is not easy and requires you taking it apart. if its under warranty i would contact evga for a possible rma.

Thanks for the replies. I continue to have intermittent problems with this thing. The radiator is now currently mounted on the front of my case well above the video card with the tubes at the bottom. Every now and again the temperature spikes and I have to shut down whatever application is causing the usage (usually a game or video), then actually reach in and tap on the video card over the GPU. This almost always results in the temperature dropping down to a level I know is being actively cooled (usually around 22 C). Should I just send this thing back at this point?

    Thanks!

Honestly, I would look into an RMA as it sounds like the pump may be stopping temporarily. Maybe see if they have cards available for RMA and if so, go through with it.

I know this post was from a couple of weeks ago, but your tip is something that far too many people ignore. Even AiO manufactures like NZXT will tell people to install their radiators with the tubes/barbs at the top right in their installation instructions. I've personally called them out on Twitter when they share/like people who post pictures of their systems using NZXT AiOs like the X62 with the tubes/barbs at the top. Telling them they need to start educating their customers properly.

Look at my join date and ownership history before you try telling me I'm not a real fan of EVGA. I even bought the damn hat.
