Looks like Mass Effect & Tribes had a baby - MMO Today, Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:EA) gave the world its first look at Anthem™, the brand-new IP being created by BioWare. Anthem is a shared-world action-RPG, where players can delve into a vast world teeming with amazing technology and forgotten treasures. The world is also filled with savage beasts and ruthless marauders where Freelancers are called to defeat the forces plotting to conquer humanity.
“Our developers at BioWare have been creating something special," said Patrick Soderlund, Executive Vice President of EA Worldwide Studios. “We’re pushing Frostbite to new heights, developing a game unlike anything EA has ever made before. We’re telling a new story, creating a social, co-operative experience, and putting it in a contiguous open world that is dynamic and will be ever-changing for years to come."
In Anthem, up to four friends can unravel the world’s mysteries and take on its most fearsome challenges together. Shared danger means shared glory, and successful Freelancers will all be richly rewarded for successful exploits. Throughout their adventure, players can outfit their Freelancers with powerful Javelin exosuits, each of which are equipped with unique weapons and abilities. Players can also customize their Javelin with gear they earn and craft throughout the adventure, and leave a lasting mark on the world.
Those who want to learn more about Anthem are encouraged to check out the official website, and sign up for the Anthem newsletter to be the first to receive new details about the game.

Looks good. Is there an option to play it as first person?

When I first saw the trailer, the similarity between this and Tribes didn't hit me, but yea, I see it now. My first thought was Destiny, due the the whole "shared world shooter" tagline and the way the trailer is presented. It was similar to how Destiny was presented at E3 a few years back. I was hoping for a single player focused story driven afair from BioWare, but will still probably buy this anyway.

I don't see Tribes, Mass Effect, or an MMO. I just see Destiny.

It looks like it could be good but I would wonder just how well it will do. I really would like to see it be a hit but it would have games like Destiny 2, Quake Champion, Call of Duty and Battlefield to really break out past to be a hit. Also I kind of see how someone could see Tribes in it but I think Tribes was very simple team based gameplay that worked well. Without really having voice chat Tribes worked well for keeping players knowing what to do. In the trailer for this it seems like a lot to do that requires more like MMO level voice chat.

Too bad EA is garbage because they have chosen to inject SJW political insanity into their products as a means to intentionally combat their customers. I don't buy their products any longer.

He thinks EA is jumping on whatever is the most popular propaganda train running at the time, injecting it in games, and hoping they will win you over because of it. Not sure what it is that makes him think that though.

Also not sure why he would have brought up Social Justice Warrior as a reason to hate EA. I mean I totally understand someone saying they hate EA and not wanting to support EA but that is a new reason for it.
