I'm posting here and maybe I'm just plain ignorant about the correct procedure (or if the VGA in question is still under warranty). The thing is:

I bought it from Newegg on early 2014
Used it to the last week without problems. I never gamed on it (use for DCC only)
The power supply is a high quality XFX PRO850, MOBO is Asus Sabretooh with Intel 4930 and 32 GB of Ram.

Pretty nice PC for its time. So, am I eligible for a RMA? Already bought a new EVGA card (1070) since the quality of your products is legendary.

Cheers.

Did you register your video board when you bought it? Enter your serial number here and it will tell you how much warranty is left if you did not register: https://www.evga.com/support/guestregister.asp

Thanks for the promptly reply, Zu.

I didn't register at that time, and following your instructions I discovered that

"Your product is out of warranty. If you have any questions, please contact (E11)"

Guess no cake for me. Oh well...

    Cheers.

At least you got 3 good years out of it. I have a 9800GT with a lifetime warranty that refuses to die. Oh well is right.

Fair point. Its defect is a bit wonky though - before dying it refused to post, I took it off, cleaned a bit, reinserted and it started again. Then the next day it just plain refused to post. Is it worth looking for a repair shop? Or not worth even bothering?

I got a GTX-680 superclocked that does the same thing and its warranty ran out in February. Just not worth bothering. Not worth repairing as far as I can see.

    Welcome to the forums.

You may be able to fix it yourself if solder cracking somewhere on the PCB is causing the problem instead of an outright component failure.

Disassemble the card and bake only the PCB with the GPU side up like this that should reflow any solder cracks that might exist..Many instructional videos/tutorials will show/say bake it with the GPU side down (like the one I linked to for example), but this may cause heavier surface-mounted components such as VRAM chips or the GPU chip to fall off.

Solder cracking happens..It can cause the problem you described, as well as other problems..The 'oven trick' might fix it, with any luck.
