Will the 1600w G2 use more power than a 1000w G3 with two 1080 ti Sli?
They will be FTW3 or I may wait on the Kingpins. I plan on cryptoming when I'm not gaming

    Power supplies will only pull as much electricity as they need. However, they have different efficiency at different load levels. Typically, if you have it at low loads, or near max load, it will be less efficient.
     
    I would factor in how much your configuration will load the system, and look at each units efficiency curve to see how efficient it should be at your configurations typical load.
     
    However, since they are both 80 plus gold, the difference in efficiency (and thus consumption) might be marginal anyway.
     
    Edit : I'm not a hundred percent sure, but I don't think a dual 1080 ti configuration will under load a 1600 w power supply, so you're probably good.

    Slightly less, as it will be operating in a more efficient part of it's range - but probably only 1% or less difference.
     
     I'd say "not worth the extra money" if you are not planning to add 2 or more additional 1080ti cards to that machine to the existing pair - and a 1000 is probably mild overkill as well.
     

    Now that vorsholk has stopped his abuse, I'm returning to folding.
     I no longer MOO due to abuses by certain "whales" in the Gridcoin community - so I now work the Distributed.net project directly again.
