Im waiting for someone to do a custom build and incorporate a couple strobe lights in it to make us all sick, lol. I don't "think" its been done yet.

Big fan of RGB lights here, my main rig sits on top of my desk so it does not suck in all the dust and it stays very clean inside.  Nice to see the computer that I spent over 10k on display and shining on my desk.  If I didn't care about it then I would be spending less than 100 bucks on a used outdated motherboard with a gtx 560 with a 4790 cpu and a platter 5400 rpm drive.  I wish the dark came with a lot of RGB with a power switch for people that don't like it but then again it might be better without for overclocking because it would have less traces to produce interference with RFI/magnetic Flux.  The motherboard covers are awesome, they keep dust away and channel the airflow to where it makes sense.

I have notice evga spec sheet and manual are lacking detailed information about the audio chips (DAC spec). Only reason to not list that information, is if you have something to hide.

Well I guess this must be true because you have 12 other Posts saying the same thing about EVGA's use of substandard audio chips on their Motherboards.

It can't be that hard to add information like this can it?

If the shoe fits..... If you are going top tier gaming MB then quality sound will be a important thing, these quasi good chips that are a decade old does not scream top shelf in my book.

I would rather that money be spent on other things like better motherboard documentation. There's nothing like calling evga tech support and them not being able to walk you through the bios because they couldn't afford to update their manuals after a bios upgrade.

First: where do you see spec sheets for the X299 boards?! That news release is the only thing I can find; they're not listed under the products section yet.

Second: Isn't that picture of a ASUS motherboard? That's the ASUS ROG logo on the chip isn't it?

Fractal Design Define 7 XL, ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Formula, AMD Ryzen 7 5800X, Crucial Ballistix MAX RGB 32GB DDR4 4000, EVGA RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 Ultra Gaming, 32" Acer Predator XB323U GX (2560x1440, 240Hz) & 30" Dell U3011 (2560x1600), 4TB Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus (OS), 1TB Samsung 860 Evo (games), 2x 2TB Western Digital Black Edition 7200 RPM 64MB Cache RAID 0 (data), Corsair HX1200 PSU, Windows 10 Pro 64-bit.

If you check out past evga motherboard spec sheets, you can get an idea what X299 spec sheet will look like. "more gold content" "onboard reset switch".  When you look at audio specs, you will the very basic info like this

That is a poor excuse for a spec sheet. Wheres the detailed specs about the audio chip features, the DAC specs etc. ASUS and GIGABYTE advertise it's audio offering as you can see in the pictures above.

The x79 dark and now x299 dark are built for overclocking by overclockers. Some more festures will be added and some will be slightly lacking. I am interested to see what T|n and K|ngp|n have done with this board.

I personally like the flashy look. I like performance and something that is aesthetically pleasing, particularly if I'm paying a lot of money for it.

I don't like RGB flashing... I like to board have LEDs but only single color, OK with RGB is possible to change and keep white or red but.

Just the socket cover; the 2011-3 cover fits on the 2066. I said the same thing too when I saw pictures from Computex.

i think one reviewer even stated the the retention bracket and cover are the exact same as the 2011-3

This is true and EK has stated that existing water blocks for 2011-3 will fit 2066. That's good to know. 👍
