I'm planning to build an up coming Intel X299 system. I have seen some X299 motherboard needs extra 4 pin ATX . I have bought EVGA G3 850 W. As far as I know it has 24 pin ATX and 2x 8pin EPS. My question is what is 4 pin ATX ? 
 
Here I copy and paste the G3 spec, does not see it has 4 Pin ATX at all, will I able to use G3 for the up coming HEDT Intel X299 ?

    It is the same as an EPS (CPU) connector..Additional EPS (CPU) connectors beyond the 8-pin (or 4+4 pin) are normally only needed for dual-CPU boards or for better overclocking stability for single-CPU boards..You use only one 4-pin half of the 8-pin (4+4) EPS (CPU) 4-pin connector which an EVGA G3 850W has..You're good to go there.

    I has been a Standard for Years Now!
    Low End Motherboards and a lot of AMD Motherboards use them.
    As well as a lot of HP and Dell Low End Desktop Computers.

    There are 2 standard connectors used to power all higher-power recent CPUs on most motherboards - a 4 pin varient and an 8 pin varient.
     
     The 8-pin version is usually only used where a motherboard can support a CPU (or multiple CPUs) that will consume in excess of ballpark 120 watts.
     The 4-pin version is used for motherboards that max out lower than that.
     
     Both are "ATX EPS" connectors, though I forget the full name of the standard that defined them many years ago.
     
     It's similar to the PCI-E connectors, which also have 2 versions - the 6-pin and the 8-pin - but both are called PCI-E power connectors because they were defined by the same standard.
     

    Now that vorsholk has stopped his abuse, I'm returning to folding.
     I no longer MOO due to abuses by certain "whales" in the Gridcoin community - so I now work the Distributed.net project directly again.
