I have a evga SRX mainboard and recently bought a Samsung nvme M.2 pro 960 drive and a M.2 pcie adapter. I can see drive through windows (as a drive) and can setup a clean install on it but I can not boot from M.2 drive. Have anyone any idea about how to do that?

Help is very appriciated...

Thanks...

I only have heard of Samsung 950Pro drives being able to boot because they have legacy support built in.

This. 950 is able to support AHCI. The 960 is NVMe only which is not supported on X58

There is one way to find out for sure. Even in newer motherboards the NVMe isn't really seen in the BIOs. You only see the Windows Boot Manager. So start a windows DVD or USB stick install. When you get to the start up screen that lists the drives take a long look. If your NVMe is NOT in this list then you can't use it as a boot device.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

Nvme support is hit and miss with those older boards. The only place i see it my z270 is under nvme devices which that wont have. Like stated the 950 can work but the 960 does not. Even when the revo drive came out there were only a few boards it worked with.

NVME isn't supported.  Just get the AHCI model.
