Have the Corsair HAF 932 case & 2 980tis in sli (top is a Classified) . I had to remove the fan & shroud that would normally go over the front of the cards . Would I gain anything with it back on & blowing over the cards ? I'll have to modify the shroud to fit around the Classified (cutting) , but I would like to know if it will help temps .  Cards not throttling , but I would like to at least match the boost clock of the Classified (1405) rather than the lower (1316) I have now .

it will depend based on testing, not really possible to give a straight answer without control data first.

Sounds like a politicians' answer , lol !  I just didn't want to cut up the shroud if I didn't need to .

why did you have to remove it in the first place? i take the lower card is not a classified card and i thought when in sli both cards had to be at the same speed. that being said you may not be able to get that non classy card up to classy speeds. and yes you would want the fans blowing on the heat sink.

I finally did trim the shroud to fit it over the classy card . It didn't help lower temps (maybe not enough rpm) on the cards . I set the core clock to 1405 in Afterburner to get the speed back . Now , if I set it to singlr gpu in the NVidia control panel the classy will boost up to 1497 with no sweat . Haven't hit any issues with it . If I want to run PhysX in Borderlands 2 , this is the way to go (except for the warmer temps). If I run in sli w/PhysX on it'll end up crashing the driver when the PhysX gets hot & heavy . Even at stock speeds ....oh well .... better than nuthin' I guess .
