I re-timmed with Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut on both my Gigabyte 1080Ti FE's and temps dropped about 2C on each card.

Biggest drop was completely removing the backplates on each card. 7C drop on each card! Lucky my case is one where motherboard lies flat, so the support of the backplates is not as important and the HB bridge is enough to hold cards firmly in place.

What's your fan curve look like?  Stock or aggressive?  Do you overclock?

My main concern as mentioned above is my CPU.  One of my core temps is always higher than the others, and while under load by a significant amount.  I just ran CPU Z and did the stress test and all cores stayed around 58 to 62C except the one problem core which went to 71C.  Also, my CPU package temp is always higher than any of the cores at idle, as I type this, the cores are between 36 and 39C while the package sits at 45C.  Under 100% load, the package temp and the problem core temp are pretty much the same all the time.  I read about Kryonaut and since I wanted to reseat my H115i on my 6850k anyhow, I figured I'd give it a shot.

That sounds like you have a air pocket under there.  It's happened to me in the past where I had to reseat my block on the CPU.  I would suggest cleaning and reapplying the TIM all over again on the CPU.  Make sure you're applying it as I suggest in a previous post.

As for the CPU package temp, I believe that's the CPU socket if my memory recalls correctly, if so it will always read hotter than your CPU cores.

Biggest drop was completely removing the brackets on each card. 7C drop on each card! Lucky my case is one where motherboard lies flat, so the support of the brackets is not as important and the HB bridge is enough to hold cards firmly in place.

Fan curve is aggressive. 100% fans at 55C.
Also, I meant to say "brackets" removed instead of backplates. Yes OC'd. 6850K same CPU as you. 4.5 OC all cores. 1.34v load. 3.6 Cache 1.25v cache.  RVE board.

1.36v System Agent . 1.21v VCCIO  - both these voltage are in-the-red, but the only way to not get the dreaded Asus X99 "random reboot" with my 64GB DDR4 3000 Kit :-(

Both cards OC'd 1962 core , 5891 memory. They can do a tad more, but backed off 25//100 to avoid any rare but possible crashes in a game.

When I get to my laptop this weekend I will.

The only degradation I've seen. Bare die or delidded has been with as4 at about 1 1/2 years under an ek block.

Here's the last two I've done in the last month.

My new gaming rig and a super budget I5 6600 system for a friend just getting into pc gaming.

Also have a 3D printer and create my own tools.

Having fun calibrating Asus Pg278qr's I've been talking people into buying.

Yes I put IC Diamond on my 1070, unfortunately very little to no significant results, Maybe 1, max 2C difference. EVGA has good quality TIM on the die already. However, its highly likely not just the TIM EVGA has supplied, but also the great aftermarket cooler with the assistance of GP104 chipset not really being an intensive, power, and high heat generating chip. So you could almost say the efficiency of GP104 is what really helps out its thermals all together, pair that with a good aftermarket cooler and your simply going to hit a theoretical maximum irregardless of what extra you try to add to dissipate the heat.

EVGA GPU's use Shin Etsu thermal paste. It actually is quite high quality stuff.

Is this what is in EVGA Frostbite Thermal Grease?

The Black Plate is a Thermal Device and not really a Support Element on the 1080 Ti Card.

Does anyone know who makes the Noctua thermal paste as I've just used it on my processors?
Is it better than AS5, MX-4 etc?

MX-4 8 Years
Noctua 3 Years and Noctua makes their past NT H1 - Noctua.at.

+1, All my CPU's do this as well.
Do you have the flow across the CPU or along the CPU?

MX-4 for me but will be testing Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut on my 1080 Ti Black Card.
Using EK Water Block and waiting for the EVGA Hydro Copper Water Block.

I did the same thing went from MX-4 to Grizzly Kryonaut and see no change in temperatures. EKWB blocks CPU and GPU.

Cores being different temps under full load is normal. There are a few reasons for this:

• First reason is the DTS sensors calibration. They are calibrated at throttling/emergency shutdown temperatures. The farther away you get from the max temp the less accurate they are.
• Second reason is the IHS. It never contacts the die evenly (this is Intel's fault), so heat transfer across the die will vary.
• Last reason is the contact between your heatsink/waterblock and the IHS. The IHS is not flat on top, AFAIK the current generation Intel IHS's are slightly convex.

Also to consider is there are more parts on CPU silicon other than the cores. There is very likely other functions directly next to one of the cores that leak heat into it. -- For example Intel has a few models that integrate part of the VRM on the CPU die (and that runs quite hot).

You tell me.... :-)

I ordered one more ML120 which I will put in the floor of the case to suck some more cooler air in, it will be here next week along with the Kryonaut.  Oh, and you can't see the 2 ML140s that are in front of the CPU radiator, but yes, it's 4 of them in push pull.  I wish I could add 2 more ML120s to the GPU radiators, but I don't think I have enough space.

I would try rearranging the rads so you aren't having the tubes coming from the top of the rad since there's air in there left for expanding fluid once it heats up.  It will circulate in your pump and can be problematic, let alone increase pump noise.

I am pretty limited in how I can arrange them.  The only other way would be to mount one at the back of the case but I really don't want to do that.  Bottom of the case is even worse from what I have heard.  I have no pump noise at all, and I really can't turn the radiators in any other way.  What suggestion do you have?

from all the posts and data from the links I went with Gelid Solutions GC-Extreme for the evga 1080ti ftws3's gpus and ic9diamond for the cpu. and will use kit from rockit88 to delid my cpu and swap out intels goop. I wont be able to do any of these until ekwb gets there gpu blocks out to the consumers lol. "soon"  It will be end of June until I get it all put together in new case and show benchmarks. till then always researching lol.
