Hello,

Just a few questions related to the Evga Z270 Classified K motherboard:
1) Would install a single M.2 SSD, which location for this board as I see 2 spots?  Once installed, what would I lose, 2 sata ports? what would that leave me for additional sata hard drives?
2) Would install 2 EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 hydro copper cards in SLI, install in the top most PCI-E spots?
3) Which EVGA PRO SLI bridge would I need for the spacing?

Thanks!

Using the top m.2 slot will disable the U.2 ports only. Using the bottom m.2 slot will disable SATA port 2 and 3 in SATA mode, if running in NVME mode PCI Express x1 slots 3 and 5 will also be disabled. Download and have a read through the manual.

I installed a Samsung 960 Evo in the top slot because I will never use U.2 drives. The bad side is proximity to graphics card could cause heat issues.

I do not do SLI so can't answer your other questions.

I have this board myself. I am running sli 1080FTW2's. First card in the top pcie16/8 slot and the next card in the second full size pcie x8 slot down. The very bottom full size slot I think is only x1 so no gpu there. The sli bridge is the 1 slot spacing 100-2W-0026-LR model. I have that bridge also. All running great!

Use the top slot, since you are doing sli both slots will be under the cards, the top m.2_1 will only disable the u.2 port so unless you plan on spending a grand on a intel 750 you will never use it. Heat is not that big a deal, i put a samsung 960 evo in mine and it stays in the 29~31c range unless i fully load it then it goes to 40c, since you will be using hydro cards they may run a bit warmer since you wont have air flow from the gpu fans but you can always add some heatsinks to the drive and if you have a front fan blowing in it should be just fine.

using the top slot for M.2 Intel SSD and one GTX 1080 FTW2 and have never seen SSD temp over 95 deg F (35 deg c )  and this SSD runs Windows 10.
The bottom M.2 slot is a little lower temp
