My setup:
X99 Classified (ETAX)
6950X cpu
Corsair Dominator Platinum 64Gb
Win 8.1
GTX 1080 Hybred
GTX 1080 SC
No SLI
Nothing overclocked.

My problem:
I'm running BIONC and checked my machines (in SETI) it said that I have 2 1080's with 4Gb ram each, how this be?
Any suggestions?

    Are you running 64bit windows?
Could just be that seti is using a 32bit process for its work and 4GB is the max addressable by 32bit applications.

I'll move this over to our Distributed Computing section.

Keep in mind that certain Windows versions, DirectX version, and APIs don't always properly see the VRAM on a graphics card.  I would chalk this down to that sort of problem.  It doesn't mean there's anything wrong with your card.

I'm going to look in to BOINC some more and see what I can do with with the settings.

I don't know how you found that tidbit but thanks for the info.
I do have 1 more question, should I use SLI or not?

SLI will not help you with ANY DC stuff that I'm aware of. I found that tidbit because I'm one of the posters.

Thanks, I have seen a posting of that somewhere but not at evga.
Just want to have someone confirm it.

SLI and Crossfire don't help any distributed project I am aware of, often cause lower productivity due to confusion between the project client and the card drivers, and sometimes cause instability when running distributed projects.

IMO the ONLY plus Windows 10 has is that DirectX 12 has eliminated any need to do SLI/CF for gaming with multi-card rigs (or at least with dual-card rigs, but most CURRENT generation GPUs only support 2-way SLI or 2-way Crossfire anyway).

Now that vorsholk has stopped his abuse, I'm returning to folding.
I no longer MOO due to abuses by certain "whales" in the Gridcoin community - so I now work the Distributed.net project directly again.
