ISSUE IS RESOLVED. The backplate LED was installed incorrectly from the factory. I took the backplate off to fix it.

Got my card, installed it, DDU's my old drivers, installed newest ones. Installed XOC. Attempted to change LED settings to play around with colors. Backplate LED will not function at all. I tried restarting. I tried a system shutdown and restart. Still doesn't work.

It's not a big thing sure. But I waited over a month for this damned card, and out of the box stuff doesn't work?

Not too happy right now...

If anyone has any insight on this I'd appreciate it. Hopefully its not hardware related but who knows.

Too add to this. I just tried the master and slave bios independently. I also removed the card and checked all the connections. They appear to all be fine, but I can't really see the backplate LED one, as it's almost completely covered by the backplate. But while I was looking, I noticed that there is a scratch in my backplate, as well as a few X's scratched over my serial number/barcode sticker, as well as a small chunk missing from the EVGA warranty sticker over one of the backplate screws...what the hell.

You could have cased this when you installed the card, unless you took a photo of your card while it was still in the box.
Did you not inspect the card before you installed it?

I know I didn't cause the ones on the sticker. Also, a EVGA rep says that is normal...so whatever. If it matters though, I got it from Newegg.

The real issue here is the backplate LED, which simply doesn't work. I fail to see how pictures or videos of that are going to contribute in any way.

Regardless, I have talked to EVGA...they have no idea why this might be happening, but have said that I am okay to go ahead and remove the backplate to check the LED connection. So that's what I am going to do. I've pretty much exhausted my options at this point anyway. I've reinstalled XOC 3 times now, even deleting the left over folders and such it leaves behind.

I buy a lot of stuff from Newegg and I have had them send me open box items as new. A friend of mine got a laptop that had been used and returned, it turned out it was a lemon so I don't trust them.

It would be interesting to see if it works in another rig.

Can you take a screenshot of the LED section in PXOC?

Thanks for the reply, but there's no need. I took it out, removed the backplate over the LED, and saw that the cable was bent over itself, and smashed into the foam pretty good. Not sure if that was the issue OR it not being seated far enough into the plug was, but it works now. I am going to say this here and in aN email to you guys later though, that I had to break the EVGA sticker on the backplate to do this, and your tech support rep said I was perfectly ok in doing that.

Also, maybe you guys should like, test these LED's before you send em out? As small of a issue as this is, it's not cool to get your brand new $779 GPU and have to immediately take it apart.

I've heard of this...but I am just gonna assume the same lazy worker who installed my backplate LED incorrectly scratched the back plate a bit too. Ah well. Can't see it from outside the case anyway. And the LED is fixed now. The experience has been a bit dissapointing but hey, my GPU works 100% now, so oh well I guess.

I'm glad you got it fixed, when it comes to tech problems EVGA is a great company to deal with.

Yep, that was actually something that surprised me...I've heard how great their tech support is...but damn. The dude I talked too actually sounded like he knew what he was talking about and gave good suggestions. I mean sure, it still sucks I had to do this, but they handled it as good as I could expect.

I'm having the same issue.  My FTW3 backplate LED doesn't light up.  Not really keen on the idea of taking the backplate off.

You only need to remove the right side of it, and EVGA will fully endorse you doing so. That said, if you aren't comfortable doing so, they will offer you a full replacement with a new card inside of 15(or maybe 30 days), and a refurb FTW3 out of that period, even for something as small as this LED. So either pull the plate and see if reseating it will fix it, or contact their support. Only options you have.
