Hey everybody.

I'm having a strange issue as of late. So, I boot up, all is good and after post I get some vertical lines, blue, black on my display Acer XG270HU and I get a black screen. If I press the reset button on my case, everything works perfectly after that until I shut down and power on again. I am using a 10ft Accelle DP cable which I bought right after the monitor which was about a month ago. All was fine until about a week ago. I have a EVGA 980ti SC on a ASUS Z170 TUF MOBO and an i76700k. Also, This all started when I noticed after my display times out (15 min set in windows) it never actually turns off... I still see the mouse curser and the backlight stays on but the monitor never goes in to power save mode. Not proper behavior.

What I have done so far:
Unplugged the monitor power and/or DP cable and let it sit then plugged them back in. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't, sometimes my PC restarted randomly when I plugged in the DP cable.

Removed NVIDIA drivers and reinstalled. (step 4)

Tried the DP cable that came with my monitor and it does the same thing.

VERY frustrating and there are I keep running in to search results mentioning bad DP cables but I have ruled that out. Thanks in advance.

Well it's black. It only shows the lines for a few seconds before it "dies". You want a pic of the lines?

Do all dp outputs produce the same issue?

Tech just replied to my ticket and they are leaning towards a bad card but it's so weird once I get it going, I can play 144h and game for hours without a single issue/artifact. but here are some screenshots of what it does if you can see the link: http://imgur.com/a/lznZN

Yes it happens on all of my DP outputs.

HDMI gives me little pixel "sparkles" all over the screen on 144hz but not 120 or 60. That may be normal due to HDMI bandwidth restrictions?

I do not get the initial lines and black screen from HDMI, however.

Is this a common problem with 980ti's? Any idea why I have no issue in BIOS?

I'll probably RMA... I paid for my 144hz at 2k monitor and only have had it for a few months and want to be able to get that as I can't with HDMI/DVI.

That's what I figured. Weird how it gave me the option in NVCP to select it. Then, No issues there but I only tested a few times. DP doesn't act up 100% of the time either so, who knows.

RMA started. Good guy EVGA with the cross-ship option! (900 ti's are still $650?!) Whatever, hopefully I'll get it by the end of the week and I'll update this thread with the outcome. Thanks for all your help!

I have the exact same problem with my GTX 980 TI.

It seems to have started once I reinstalled Windows and switched to UEFI boot only. I dont have the issue when I am in legacy bios mode.

Out of curiosity, were you using UEFI boot too?

Yes Win 10 in UEFI and it started when I updated creators update and newest NVIDIA drivers at the same time. I think that's what makes it so hard to troubleshoot because I have a feeling it's windows and not my card. I did find a post about turning off fast boot in windows (not bios) and that fixing it and so far so good but I want to give it a few days to say it's 100%.

I still have the monitor sleep issue though. So again, who knows.

Thanks for the information. Your scenario pretty much match mine. When the creators update came out, I reformated, installed an M.2 SSD and installed a fresh copy of Window 10 in UEFI boot mode/secure boot.
this is when the issue started. I will keep on troubleshooting and report back. I would appreciate if you can update your thread with your findings and/or resolution to the problem.

thanks

Hmm, makes me wonder if my issues with my titan are uefi related. I started out with uefi all along, windows 8.1, m.2 drive for os, and my 1st card lasted 6 months, and the replacement lasted 3 weeks before getting all wonky again.
I use DP  and 144hz 2k also.

UEFI is unrelated to card failures.
