Hi guys,

I was wondering from where you guys buy Digital games from. Trying to catch up on a few old games like GTA V.

Got steam installed, unfortunately I'm unable to buy games... Gave it a try because I'm familiar with steam for quite sometime and is kind of "safe"..

if this is not in the correct board, please move.

Unable to buy games due to lack of funds or do you have issues with steam store?

Yes, nothing seems to work from steam store hence why I'm looking for another "good" place to buy games from.
Forget about their support and none working methods. Thought of amazon but too many bad reviews and problems.

Must be something up with your system, if you can't purchase anything from steam store.  When's the last time you have done a fresh Operating System reinstall? You can buy Steam wallet cards at local walmart for $20 $30 $50 $100 cards.

Maybe you have a virus or malware. Have you tried running any malware scans or tried Microsoft Safety Scanner ?

Everything is new on this machine running W10 Pro, barely reached two weeks now. Can't even add a different payment method. None of the above is the problem.

There seems to have been an error initializing or updating your transaction. Please wait a minute and try again or contact support for assistance"

Steam support should be able to help you with it, until that happens, you can still use Steam Gift Cards (steam wallet card), you can pick them up at walmart and gamestop.

I had an issue where i couldn't remove all my payment info from my account, steam support helped me with it. I like buying steam gift cards over using my debit card, it keeps a little bit of money out of Steams hands.

FYI - PAYPAL has a gift store subsection that sells STEAM gift card codes for NO additional fees .  I have used that many, many times to get STEAM money for other people as well.

GOG Galaxy will have a lot of games that Steam offers. You can get EA games from Origin and Ubisoft games from Uplay. If you buy on HumbleBundle you will most likely get Steam keys that you can just enter into Steam.

I have my Steam wallet tied to PayPal seems to work better that way,  at least for me.  Tried GOG, Origin, Uplay, Humble Bundle is ok,  PayPal seems to be safest.  If you lose keys Humble will still have them.

In Europe purchasing digital games seems to be limited to Steam or Origin. There might be more options but I haven't seen them advertised any.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

GMG or GOG are the only ones I really trust. I've purchased a few from G2A, but they're a bit shady imho.

I have had excellent experiences with GOG, both from the purchasing side and from the support side.  I have used GMG and G2A as they will usually have better sales.  I would contact Steam about your purchasing problem or do the steam giftcard method others have recommended.

Thank you all for the feedback.

I'll put some time and get in touch with steam's support first, otherwise tried the other options provided to me in this thread.

Contacting Steam support is an exercise in patience. If the question has any complexity to it, don't expect any help.

Is it wrong to buy steam gift cards, just to keep a small % of that money from greedy Valve pockets?

Just avoid G2A so you don't buy a stolen key.

    My favorite is greenmangaming.com
    gamersgate.com is another good one.
Steam usually has the highest prices even with their sales.

    I'd stay away from direct2drive.com
I used them over a decade ago, but they were sold to Gamefly and recently were sold again. I didn't even bother reactivating/moving my account.
Stardock use to have a platform, but sold it to Gamespot and that is the last place I'd buy games from.

Could always try purchasing games on steam through a web browser instead of the steam client. I always use the client, but maybe could buy through the site, and then install them after they get added you the games you own.

Honestly I use steam gift cards because it keeps me responsible during sales. I often buy games I like when they are on sale but often I don't ever find the time to play them with the gift cards I am able to limit how much I spend.

Use an Associates Code & SAVE 5% - 10% on your purchase. Just click on the associates banner to save, or enter the associates code at checkout on your next purchase. If you choose to use my code I want to personally say "Thank You" for using it.

Yeah, Gamespot is the last place I'd buy games from also. Mostly because they are a video game website and not a store.
